I have added this paragraph to the Recovery section of the user guide:

"You will sometimes have to be very patient with Recovery trades. At the time of writing this paragraph, the date is Feb 1st, 2011. A Recovery pair have just closed: AUDCAD; 2 trades taken on the 4th and 5th of November 2010. These trades have become like old friends as they have benefited from that thing that is rarer than hen's teeth these days – positive swap. I shall miss them. Not many Recovery events take even half of this time to clear; just be aware that they can."

I just love the way that some people appear to think that coders can deal with all their problems.

Guys, if you have a super-crappy criminal whose demo and real accounts run so radically differently, then Beastie is not for you. There is nothing I can do about a platform that refuses to accept the Global Variables upon which Beastie depends.

I developed Beastie on an Alpari UK demo. It is forward testing on an IBFX demo. I cannot vouch for its behaviour on any other platform.

It is up to users to ensure that Beastie is tradable on their platform.

I will not download every single platform available to ensure that Beastie works on it.

If Beastie does not work on your platform, then get one on which it will work.

Or stop using Beastie.

Margin level has only dropped down below 1000% with a large number of trades open.

Steve, first of all thanks for coding the Beast and entertaining (mostly) all inputs from us...

Just started today (got delayed), followed installation instructions by the letter (honestly) and have two quick questions (FXCM UK demo):

1. AutoCalcTradeClosure=true - had CT on GBP/CAD entered ard 12:18 server time (GMT-1 I guess), closed rapidly thereafter with message "reached gold line". Acc to manual GBP/CAD is in very volatile group n should auto-close at white line - right? Edit: GBPCAD is not listed in code section string very volatile

2. Not sure whether u have GBP/NZD on your demo but on mine, magneta line top is ard 27 Aug 2010 and bottom ard 2 Jan 2011 - given that magneta lines are based on fixed number of H1 candles this can't be right..

3. I know this came up recently but max spread in management alerts still shows set spread correctly for 5-d crim but present value in brackets not

4. No double / triple trades in last 8 hours....

If above is caused by broker, my apologies, if not could u pls look at this whenever your time allows

Like to take the opportunity to wish all asian-centric fellow traders an early Xin Nian Kuai le / Gong Xi Fa Cai / A happy and prosperous Year of the rabbit (shout goes to NH who is instrumental in developing the framework of these systems, presently in US) (which shall in no form or shape dimish the tremendous effort of the coders, mainly SH!, to package this is one very nice EA

Let me begin by saying thank you Steve for actually "answering" the question many of us raised in attempting to address a problem that has been occurring for so many traders live.

There is at least one serious broker, who offers MT4 aimed at institutional traders who has identical feeds from their demo & live servers - minimum account balance 50K.
Mman, you "inferred" all wrong. My initial comment was not aimed at you but to every person with enough knowledge of the matter to just simply "address" the issue. I was not looking for someone to "test a bot on my behalf on a live account" nor spell check my "resolve the problems on live." If many of us were affluent enough to have a 50k account we probably would be manually trading anyway.

Just my....2 cents worth.

Whatever, I am done with waiting for you to fix your buggy code.
Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't instantly think your shit didn't stink, just to find out later that it indeed does and you were wrong. Would think you'd learn your lesson but apparently not lol. How many bugs have people (including myself) found that you needed convincing that they were there, and have to put up with this kind of reaction from you. Not worth it anymore, count me out.

I would love to be able to claim that this list of pairs represents the result of endless research and supreme trading knowledge, but it isn't. I just picked a shed-load of charts and rely on MM to keep the account out of trouble. I am happy to trade tiny lot sizes and accept a slowly increasing balance resulting from lots and lots of tiny profits.

Nice bit of bloop-spotting here. I missed out GC when entering the pairs. This will be fixed in the next update. This does not appear to be much of an issue, so people bothered by it can correct it in the code by adding the pair to the VeryVolatile list.

YES IT DOES DAMMIT TO HELL. The function call is quite simple and basic; int spread = MarketInfo(Symbol(), MODE_SPREAD); This is the spread displayed in brackets, for crying out loud. I really don't care whether you or others like it or not, but the the bot displays THE SPREAD EXTRACTED FROM YOUR PLATFORM. Not an interpretation of it. Not an x digit adaptation of it. THE ACTUAL BLOODY SPREAD.

Got it. THAT IS THE ACTUAL SPREAD RETURNED BY THE ACTUAL PLATFORM. I ASSUME THIS IS THE SPREAD SET BY THE ACTUAL CRIMINAL.

Would you like me to be a tad more blunt about this? Do I need to make myself plainer? I can, if need be.

If he decides he does not want to do something that is his prerogative. If his EA is faulty, then tough, do not use it. If he is refusing a request for modification, then tough, either learn to code or better still pay someone to do it for you. Then you may learn the real value of what we have got from Steve. His Mptm is becoming sort of standard mt4 kit with so many people. His BEAST, FTLR and NB V5 Auto trader are making real consistent profits. How many commercial EAs you know that have such a track record.

All I can say is very sad and shame on you.
P.S. Any more rude or derogatory comments will result in an official complaint to the moderators of FF.

SH, thanks for the reply and apologies for bringing up the no-no subject....

I spent the last 3 hours researching on the mode_spread function. I hope u will find it within u not to ban me - some time ago you mentioned, I am paraphrasing here, that if we do our homework before bothering you, you would help to improve our understanding of mql programming.... I am honestly not nit-picking here, just doing baby steps to learn coding....

According to the MT4 repository the output of mode_spread is in Points not pips, thus this would indeed require normalization in case of 5D crims.... I did a quick hack of changing int to double and divide result of calculation by 10, now it shows present spread in decimal form x.y (verified with indepedant spread indicator)

As u provided "no comment" on the GBP/NZD question of mine, is that because it is a stupid question? Could it be that there is no associated macman bar count for this pair in the code? I added a line with GBPNZD in the section with barcounts with arbitray barcount 180, it reset magnate lines to the most recent high / low extremes

I sincerely hope this is not my last post in this forum

Quick question - as I do not recall that this was covered in detail somewhere (if yes, I apologize) - the work you have done to establish optimized barcounts for magneta line calculation by currency pair - was that done along the lines of statistical analysis of extreme high to extreme low bar count on H1 TF over a longer period of time e.g. a year?
