sure! that's why i think this system may work! you use 8am est, not any hour else. new york city use summer time saving system from each march or april to sept. or oct.(the exact date is different each year, we need to pay attention to it.)

maybe you know...

does this mean that NY open will be at 8am EST thew out the year or does it change. If it does what are the times?

Yes, definitely. on my mt4 chart, US open time sometimes is 14:30, sometimes is 15:30.

how did you figure this out?

on my chart 8am EST is at 15 gmt time.

I'm just trying to figure this out so I know I'm doing backtests right.

yes! each year the exact beginning and ending date of time saving system is different. you can get it from the internet. I had it before, but I can't find it right now.

I traded several years! I used to trade npr on the first firday of each month. sometimes it's 15:30 gmt, sometimes it's 14:30 gmt.

8AM NY Time is 13:00 GMT during the Winter (EST) and 12:00 GMT during the Summer (EDT).

My backtest results for 2010-11 to 2011-01 is almost the same as cubby's. so I believe cubby is honest and great.

but when I backtested 2009-11, the month produced big negative results. maybe this system is not stable.

I know, I'm wondering the same thing. Was this with the EU?

I still do not know how to use a simulator to do my backtests so I have to do it the slow way.

I know the results starting augest 2010 and before start getting weeker. I hoping that the trading of the 4 pairs will help pull out profitable weeks/months during this time.

Im not trying to get on your case here, it may seem that way a bit as I posted on one of your other threads, nothing bad just my view on things.

This type of system must surely be doomded to failure, it relies on a set of rules that have nothing to do with trading and why people trade.

If you think you can make long term profits like this then I just dont see it.....sorry to be negative, but big banks and hedge funds and the like dont place trades based on a complex sequence of candles opening and closing times....they place trades based on whether the current price is at a level they consider will make them a huge profit. Its just a market, nothing fancy....the question is what is on sale in that market.... its "PRICE"....... if the price is right then professional traders will buy and sell. Thats how to trade forex.

Can I ask, Are you consistently profitable? Why not point to a system thats profitable then... unless you think none exists of course... just trying to make sure I got your reason for posting straight

Yes good points, I have made commensts and offered no alternative...

Im just trying to say that I dont think the answer to trading is a techinacal system....theres 1000's on here, but Ive never heard anyone making great money from one...have you ?

Im just saying indicators are usful, but are not what the main focus should be on, they are all by default lagging and therefore can only at best tell you what has happened, they do not and will never predict the future of price movement.

Everything is your best guess... my point is its better to guess sooner rather than later....

Ab1,

This is the kind of criticism I really do not mind. You are not trying to be offensive or rude.

I agree with you to a certain extent.
I realized that the first hour of the NY session is where movement will start happening and when you have movement you have the possible start or continuation of trends right? I noticed that threw my testing of this system there was a natural resistance at the bottom or top of the NY open candle causing an opportunity of catching some of this movement when one or both of these resistances were broken.

I think a mechanical system can work for 6 months to a year but I think that it may have to be something that's modified every now and then to stay profitable.

I said over the weekebd I was trying your system today. I want to know if you had same results I did. I used the EUR/USD, GBP/USD, GBP/JPY and EUR/JPY like you said to.

For EUR/USD I had lossed of 43.6 pips. After that lossed short trade opened but is still not winning. Second trade is now at lossed around 20 pips.

For GBP/USD I had win for 16.2 pips.

For GBP/JPY I had lossed of 30 pips and second trade winned 15 pips.

For EUR/JPY I had win for 14.7 pips.

All together for today I had lossed for 27.7 pips, and have one trade still not closed yet that is around 20 pips lossed.

Do you have the same results today or am I doing anything wrong?

Gj -28 then +14
GU +16
EU -41 then +20. this trade barely hit.
EJ +15

So -4 was toltal today. Not a good day I guess. Goal is to pull out a profitable week though.

I have a 1 pip spread so this alows me take my profit sooner.

OK, I wanted to make sure I'm doing it right. It looks like I am because our results are simlar. What lot size should I be using for $500 account?
