DislikedBuy and Sell stops are market orders once they are hit, so they are not limit orders, you might get a worse price than you specify.Ignored
DislikedStop orders consume liquidity, limits provide it. The curve represents liquidity, so there are no stops here. Sometimes stops are called limits and this brings confusion.Ignored
Buy and Sell stops will be market orders, but they still have their limitations as to price levels when they will be activated. Agreed, price is not guaranteed. Could they not be included as latent demand due to the uncertainty of their exact fill price and their classification as possible future market orders? They would be on the books.
Can we only classify them as just consumers of liquidity? I do see the advantage of knowing the distribution of both order types, but am not convinced yet that they were completely distinguishable or excluded in the chart. Maybe this has more to do with the origin of the chart information and that stops would generally be orders that only brokers and dealers would execute and be privy?
Seagreen, would you explain why you believe there were no stop orders in the chart?
Thanks, HP
EDIT: I see that Seagreen did provide an explanation. Much appreciated.
