Sounds like you've found a nice little nugget. In my 5-6 years of studying Gann and time trading in general, I've realized a couple of things. Being able to pinpoint exact turning points don't mean much if you can't trade it correctly. Based on your comments, you're realizing this as well. I blew out a few times early on even though my predicted turns were spot on. Perfect analysis and profitable trading are not equal. It's good to see that you're seeing that.

Also, in my opinion, a large chunk of Gann's writings served two purposes. 1) To throw the un-initiated off of the true path. 2) Tell the initiated that there is no "true" path. You create your own path.

I think 99% of the Gann material peddlers get it wrong. That's why things like the Sq9, Hexagon, etc. don't always work out. Especially using those tools in the way 99% of the peddlers tell you how they work.

If you understand physics, music, philosophy, etc., it all makes sense. You can measure the same thing in different ways. Find the way that speaks to you and you're set. 440Hz = A = a note on a staff of music = do re mi = mi fa if you're phrygian and not ionian, blah blah blah. it's all the same. Only the tools of measure are different.

Gann wrote only what people who were seeking would see. they had to be at the same level of education. there is only one truth. What I think it is, is simple, each traded insturment is humming at it's own resonance. These resonance are either a reflection of the planets or natural order of (hummings) meaning there are several frequencies that are set (and they looked at the planets)

So each thing is humming at it's own and some hummings are influencing each other like euro/usd to Gbp/usd and some are inverse like dollar index

Now there may be some that are better measured according to other mathematical relations than fibo and may be that is why gann and others explain other ones........but I trade euro and concentrate on the pulse.....

The pulse is something I read while reading all the CFT books....not something I created......

According to mandelbrou for fractals to work in the market there are pulses that equal each other in different directions at certain time (fibo related) in the market.....

I found EURO to match venus as in the CYCLES forum......I posted a chart there and the host did too......

If people have the specific charts of the longterm of each traded insturment of the planets maybe we see what best measures each.....

The shifts in time measurement is the key at there can be rules for it I think....

Nice to see you back to the thread Chad, it has been a long while.

If noone minds me sharing a few meditations I had on my personal road on the topic of Gann. I came to the conclusion that all these "tools" he developed were not so much THE technique he used. It seems to me now they serve as a quick ephemeris. All his "square" tables and circles and hexagons, they capture a certain cyclic period of time which correlates with planets. He just needed something intraday on the floor to be able to make decissions, what do you do if you lack a laptop? You invent another system....

After reading Tunnel through the Air, I came to the conclusion that he did not need all these "weird tools", because he understood what he was doing.

I would like to ask you a question, please.
That is, while counting the waves do you use the wave count as Harmonic Elliott waves ?

Exactly! Which is part of the reason I developed my technique. I can partition price-time ranges on any time period with or without a computer or even a chart. Same way floor traders carry around what the standard pivot levels are. It's stupidly simple. But arriving there took going around the solar system looking in every nook and cranny. price = time. Simple.

The advantage the astro stuff gives is that you can easily look stuff off going into the future almost infinitely. I'm not one who buys into the causal effect of the planets. It's highly correlative though regardless of whether it's causal or not and that's good enough for me. Universal fundamental wave and everything else is harmonic to that.

I count both, I can count them in my head real fast, once you practice a bit the patterns are easily recognized, but I usually only post according to Frost and Prechter because that is what most EW people use.

There are some differences though, like the definition of an impulse, and it explains away some of the 'crazy' stuff of Prechter like trunked waves and expanded flats etc. Also ratio calculation is much more accurate on Harmonic waves.

No, it is a bit different. But harmonics will teach you to read F&P better as well.

My problem with F&P is that I never knew where the turn would come on correctional waves, as far as I was concerned, they were imminent and that really limited my trading. Cyclical and harmonics solved that issue.

For instance, I was a subscriber and I got a letter from EWI saying that 38% retrace on Dow was reached and to cover your positions. That was August 2009 or so. We are a good year and a half further and still going up.

I know this question is not addressed to me, but my advice would be to get a good astro-wheel program, I personally use ZET8.

Look at the thing together with your charts, look at it as often as you look at your charts, look at them both continiously for at least a year. And you will see that price is there at the time you expect it to be there.

Look at the moon, the sun, the north node and lilith as first priority, the other planets as second priority.

You did notice what happend during the solar eclipse this week? The price went up to the point of the north-node, then it went down 1, down 2, down 3 vibrations of the north node and stalled there yesterday. [edit: I am talking EURUSD]

Hello Sti, Thanks for detailed explanation. I have also Zet 9 which is free version. But I know very little abt it, like aspects between various planets. recently jupiter conjucted uranus on jan 4, 2011. Can you please, explain a bit how do you corelate price with north node on chart ? "The price went up to the point of the north-node " what is the vibration of north node? By the way, jupiter-uranus conjuction is generally bullish but for eurusd pair its been bearish this time !! Let me repeat one thing again, that I am still in learning stage for trading & astro. hi JR97 where have u been? u aint active for sometimes.

I hv spent a short 1 1/2 yr on W.D. Gann research and I am still learning. Gann materials are tough reading and the SQ9 & wheels are just his products for the consumer market designed to conceal his methology. I interpret it that he wish to keep it that way. Should we disturb the natural way of income distributiion? only the seekers of knowledge and truth will enjoy the fruits.

Everything in nature works with magical (clock) precision right down to the fractals, and this is divine mathematics. How do we explain the correlation between nature and stock/ forex mkt fluctuations? Well the first trades on the Exchange are commodities/ livestocks and they are subject to weathers. Are we trading the reaction of those effects? Human memories, greed and fear remain the same.

Ability to forecast and to call time cycle CIT dont make you a profitable trader. We can plot memories on the chart, but we still need to struggle with daily emotions of greed and fear in trading. Patience, emotions and discilpine are the core; ability to forecast give us the big edge. Do we blame the moon? Or should we find the Cause? Are we ready to accept the Cause?

This is my humble understanding.

Hey Coffee. My personal life went through some dramatic shifts in 2010. Best to stay away from trading when that happens.

CAUSE is something Gann talks about a lot. My conclusion as to what he meant is based on a few things... his suggested reading list, his being a Mason, and his heavy emphasis on the Bible. If you notice, there is not a single book on trading in his suggested reading list.

Studying what the Masons study will tell you a lot as to why Gann says what he says. I believe most of Gann's stuff is based on understanding CAUSE and knowing how to measure EFFECT. Again, astro is the easier method of measuring EFFECT because you can work the clock forward and backward almost infinitely.

Moreover, the solar system correlates very well to other measures of EFFECT such as music theory, numbers, cycles of human behaviour, cycles of understanding, etc.

So I guess my point is that if you really want to understand Gann, you need to do what he says which is focus on CAUSE to learn how to measure EFFECT. CAUSE has nothing to do with trading, charts, EW, Fibs, or any of that. The markets themselves are EFFECT. Hence why he says study the Bible, learn science, learn geometry, learn music, etc. to learn CAUSE and how to measure EFFECT.

It's more than just being book smart on the technical stuff. It's having a paradigm shift in how you view not only the markets, but existence as well.

I even thought 9/11 and all terrorrist attacks in Spain, London, are intelligence agency home made of each member country in this SCAM....

I even think they hit towers to rig new computers in wall street........It is all about control.......

The markets are not natural order they are computer generated and control order flow.........

It explains roughly how to correlate longtitude to price, there are in this thread examples of indicators that are able to do the same.

When a new aspect starts, and keep in mind please that I only use aspects with Earth, you check where the price is.

For example, today an aspect started, the Sun is at 288 degrees, this aspect started when price (EURUSD) was at 1.299 on 05:00 hours (CET)
This aspect lasts until the 10th of January 02:00 hours (CET)
This "orb" as it is called (the degrees before and after the actual aspect) is set by me based on statistics. (so don't hang me on these numbers, they just work best for me)

Now every aspect has a shape. In fact it follows the shape of longtitude.
In this case, as the degree is 288 ( > 180 ) it takes not the shape of the actual longtitude, but of 360-longtitude. so plot all 360-longtitude until the 10th and you have the rough shape of this aspect (for those who understand how to read between the lines: my shape ends at 1.29395)

This is NOT the target of price, this is just setting up an aspect.

Next, every 1.5 cent (EURUSD) up and down, during the same time period, draw the same shape. These are the vibrations on EURUSD. And there you have your support and resistance for that aspect for that small period of time. (I repeat for THAT aspect, bigger aspects that are also active during the same period of time also need to be taken into account, there are many active aspects at the moment.)

I do this for all planets and vocal points all the time with all the aspects, earlier I mentioned which aspects I look at.
