Have a look at this post from just over 2 years ago. http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...&postcount=295 Not one of my trades but with all 3 charts shown is a classic. Shows 1hr candle, 15 min confirm, nice 5 min lh entry. We've basically traded this way for close on 3 years now and the main parts of system remain the same as this (some squiggly lines have changed over the years but as previously mentioned thats not the key factor at all, not even close).

Great to hear Mrs V is on the mend Dave.

Thin markets still produce some amazing trades using your LH HL Dave, they really are one of the best patterns to trade. Keep it simple.

I shorted EU twice this morning knowing it was contra trend but they were clear reversals and good for 15 and 9 pips net respectively.

I missed this perfect long (on the phone) when the m30 confirmed but wanted to post it because it was such a clear example of a m30 HL reversal.

Good Spot to exit right here... net 18 Pips

Still can't get a fully mechanical exit strategy... Previous S/R levels and Round Numbers is the best I can come up with still

It's refreshing to see others using Range Bar Charts now in their own trading. Makes reading a chart much easier ...

...what was your reason for taking this trade. I know its a higher lower but how did you determine whether this would be a trade ?

It's an accumulation/confluence of a couple of things. This particular setup had the following components in its favor: higher low, bullish pa, round number/psych level, mid BB bounce. Setups like this require no second thought. Just pull the trigger and manage the trade according to your rules.

Screen time will make the process of determining what is and what isn't a trade a lot easier, Dan. How much screen time is enough differs per person, but more is always better.

It makes sense of the pattern below, h1 breakout, close to confirm, a sort of HL and even a 2b'ish pattern. Wow did it fly?

It requires a bit of lateral thinking but that is what we are paid to do.

I have made a daily EG chart to try to show why I was looking for H4 / H1 HL trades this morning.

Notice how the daily chart was an almost identical pattern to the H1. Take the D1, H1 off the charts and you couldn't tell the difference.

I hope this makes some sense to some of you.

Re: constant range bars

What bar size do you folks use for your trading?
I know it is a totally subjective thing....and for different currencies it may be different.

I have been using 7 pip range bars.....trading GBPUSD.
I just tried 10 pip range bars and am starting to think that might be a slightly better "look and feel"

just curious what you folks are doing?

Does anyone have the Range Bar Indicator MQ4, I have tried the EXE and cannot get it to compile or work on my MT4.

Any solutions would be appreciated.

I bought the script I use, so out of HUGE respect for the developer I will not post mine.
(it is a script not an indicator by the way)

If you search there may be free ones available
