Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if there was a moving average of pivot points indicator. Looking for one that looks like an MA on the charts, but is based on pivot point formulas.

Any ideas? I have searched long and short to no avail...

If you find one let me know, I am looking for one that would draw a MA of the last 3 daily pivots
Here's an easy work around. Use the attached MTF MA indicator. Set the TimeFrame to 1440 (1 day), and the period to 3, applied_price to 5 (HLC3).
This gives you a 3 period average of the pivot point from your broker's daily candle. (Different brokers start their day in different time zones so you wont be able to have you MA based on a start from, say 5pm est...). Also you may want to use the "shift" function by 1 period because pivots are inherently projected forward by a day...hmmm

so with this indicator to use John L Person formulas to both MA's he shows in is books....how should you set up this indicator settings for the five minutes chart and the 15 minutes charts respec. ? (so we can reproduce his complete system in MT4 with this indicator)

anyone ?

for a 5 minute chart:

TimeFrame -> 5
MAPeriod -> 1
ma_shift -> 0
ma_method -> 0
applied_price -> 5

and

TimeFrame -> 5
MAPeriod -> 3
ma_shift -> 0
ma_method -> 0
applied_price -> 5
Tater, thanks for the smart solution -- I was in need for it. I am using the 3-day and 5-day PIVOT averages to determine tendancy of current day's movement. If today's pivot is above both averages, I go long, otherwise short.
haveny used it for ages.. but this was a 3 day pivot

Mt4 doesn't need one, it has one built in. "Pivot" is just "typical price" aka (H+L+C)/3. If you add a moving average in the popup there is an "Apply to:" field. Go there, pulldown, choose HLC/3, choose whatever period you want, done.
Thank you all for the info. Despite that MT4 has it as a built in indicator, the MTF indicator is still superior to MTF's in the sense that it is still drawn even under lower time frames. For example, if you specifiy that you are interested in the 1440 (1D) timeframe, you will see it, the 1D, drawn in all smaller frames, while the MT4 changes based on what timeframe you toggle to.

Can you tell me a bit simpler, how to find it the Pivot MA indi ?

The MT4 MA has the pivot formula built-in. It is nominally set to calculate the average of the bar's close, but if you set it to "Typical" it calculates the from the HLC/3 point of the bar which is the pivot point of the bar. If you want to get fancy re-read my post above and get the MTF version but it is not necessary for the Person Average formula.

Hi, apologies for ressurecting an ancient thread but u guys have given me food for thought, ive been interested in this topic ever since i first saw the PPs on netdania charts moving on-the-fly and thought itd be cool to have the movement history charted.

My first question; if the Moving Average set at the variables suggested on this thread was a true representation of a Pivot, then wouldnt it match up with the daily 'static' Pivot point at the start of each day? Which they dont. Doesnt that suggest the MA method is not a pivot, as they should both be taking the same data from the same period?

Secondly, how would you go about plotting S/R in such a way?

Dear Master Coders and Master Traders,

I am looking all over Google for a Pivot daily Indicator which auto reloads every days @ specified time and sends email with all Pivot Point levels , R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 || S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 at given local time.

So that we can specify the same for early morning and see the email with levels. It will be great, if someone help to get a single indicator or ea where we can add multiple pair, and get email for each pair separately.
