No longer works with gmail josef, they went with ssl recently. You will have to set it up at gmx.com or lavabit.com After that, if you still insist on gmail you could always have gmx or lavabit forward to gmail.

Excellent post, now I finally have a use for iCloud on my iPhone

Takes awhile for things to get going, shut down & restart MT4 a few times, keep clicking the Test but finally it works!

Now have to wait until next week to see if the Horizontal Line Indicator sends out the email or not

For those of you who used GMX SMTP in the past and have issues with it now. In the following post a user shared an alternative working free service.

Setup is basically the same as with GMX (see the post above for config)
Just make sure to close and restart your MT4 after configuring the SMTP...

SOLUTION:

If people ever ask how to make mt4's email alerts work these days, for example with the proposed gmx.com free email server they need to log into gmx.com Settings to enable "Send and receive emails via external program" and click Save button.

Hello,
I have a way to make it work on MT4 build1380.
I used a gmail account to send an email to my GMX account.

One of the main problem is setting up the "Apps password" in my Google security settings because the lik to this parameter was not displayed in my interface.
Fortunately I found the direct link which is: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

I now works perfectly.
