The Element of Time in Trading

I used MT4...Fibonacci Arcs tool under Insert. I then applied it like you do a retracement. On the Parameters Tab, there is an option for Ellipse. Unchecked, you get an arc. Select it to get what you see here. Then I put in the Fib settings/Harmonic numbers/Geometric ratios I wanted.

It looks like using Fibo Arcs with the Ellipse box checked at the parameter tab.

That's a "supercool" visual. It gives the chart a 3 dimensional appearance. The Fib Arcs on my software has a two-dimensional appearance.

I have e-mailed a few master traders,as regards to setting a question or two for the quiz,i am pleased to report they have replied with questions,so i will turn quiz night into The Christmas Quiz.

ps when i say master traders,i really mean THE master traders of the modern age

Chart 2: Looks like price stood on the banks of the 100.0 (left pool)/161.8 (right pool) and took a springboarding dive with the destination being a pre-determined price at a certain time. Fib Cluster entry from another vantage point?

Another "timely" entry on third chart (second yellow circle to the right).

Thinking also of a golf course...aren't the holes/targets preset? Nothing random there. The co-ordinate of any point on the chart would be (Time, Price)...the (x,y) for Geometry students.

Exactly the idea. That is what price gives us everyday, just a different representation of a natural phenomena...energy flow/transfer. So, if you can drop the same pebble (currency pair/trading instrument) in the same spot (price level), with the same force (order size), would you get exactly the same ripples...S/R? Fib numbers? I suppose the water depth (traders in the market) should be similar. Now, if you can know when, you should have another nice photo of some +pips to add to your trading album. What do you think?

Could you imagine what these would look like on a consolidation? Probably a spring or energy coil or some other convoluted structure. Now entering Physics 101. LOL. Taking this all to 3-D and beyond will take some doing.

Powerful graphic. Never saw that clock before. What a concept!!! And the chart to show. Can you link that clock to your trading platform ? Will be interesting to see what tools surface to link time to price via a trading platform. Naysayers, beware.

Regarding your time reference points: Did you use Expanding Harmonic numbers for a square (rounded off)? Or maybe, the Fib Summation series?

P.S. In reference to linking the clock to the platform...I think it is in the Technical Analysis tools and Geometry for starters (and who knows what else)...thinking in more than one dimension couldn't hurt.

Beginning to see Time in space with Price. Not a Gann follower but I think he was on to something. Seeing price interact with the lines reminds me of a radar device in a submarine or something LOL.

@ Auxesis: I see what you meant about the arcs/ellipses versus lines. Thanks. Haven't touched other info. yet though. Getting there s-l-o-w-l-y.

How do you determine which peak/bottom to draw these?

I think the "eye" for seeing the swings came from my practice trading with Pitchforks. All I can suggest is practice.

Did a search for Submarine Radar. Very interesting reading:

Navigation

Light does not penetrate very far into the ocean, so submarines must navigate through the water virtually blind. However, submarines are equipped with navigational charts and sophisticated navigational equipment. When on the surface, a sophisticated global positioning system (GPS) accurately determines latitude and longitude, but this system cannot work when the submarine is submerged. Underwater, the submarine uses inertial guidance systems (electric, mechanical) that keep track of the ship's motion from a fixed starting point by using gyroscopes. The inertial guidance systems are accurate to 150 hours of operation and must be realigned by other surface-dependent navigational systems (GPS, radio, radar, satellite). With these systems onboard, a submarine can be accurately navigated and be within a hundred feet of its intended course.

To locate a target, a submarine uses active and passive SONAR (sound navigation and ranging). Active sonar emits pulses of sound waves that travel through the water, reflect off the target and return to the ship. By knowing the speed of sound in water and the time for the sound wave to travel to the target and back, the computers can quickly calculate distance between the submarine and the target. Whales, dolphins and bats use the same technique for locating prey (echolocation). Passive sonar involves listening to sounds generated by the target. Sonar systems can also be used to realign inertial navigation systems by identifying known ocean floor features .
