Question for VEGAS and others using Vegas system..... 2 replies
Disliked. . . I think the Bollinger Bands would be a better choice. It accounts for volatility changes which is a better way to filter entries and also exits. I am thinking that using BB, plus candle stick patterns, like doji and piercing patterns, when price is at or near the BB bands would provide logical input for determining entries and exits. I have been looking at this, but have not worked out any specific rules. Let me know what you think.

DislikedOK. Clean slate. New system.
What drew me to this thread was the fact that Steve was coding an EA for one of Vegas' systems. I always thought his stuff was genius, but it required way too much watching and waiting--'round-the-clock, basically. As much as I wanted to follow his methods, it just wasn't possible. So off to a forgotten file folder they went. But over the weekend, I dusted them off and started playing with my personal favorite, the 1 Hour Tunnel. I'm sure a lot of people here are familiar with it, but I'll summarize it for those who...Ignored
DislikedI'm pretty excited about what I see with this setup. Please let me know what you think of it.

DislikedThis is merely a price-crosses-a-MA system, backed up by an Rsi to confirm the trend. I am not even sure the 240 Rsi would confirm the trend properly.
Frankly, it looks like rubbish to me. That channel looks irrelevant. Pick the top ma or the bottom ma to cross - doesn't seem to matter which.
Knock this into a profitable system and I will code it for you.

DislikedSteve--I don't know how I missed it, but there is a TF setting for RSI in the input window. Does this mean the EA has MTF RSI?

DislikedI have been running the version of this EA available for download on Sunday afternoon 21st November, I started it late afternoon on Monday 22nd on Alpari UK demo trading 0.4 lots otherwise OOTB. I ran it on 6 X M30 charts, EURUSD, AUDUSD, EURJPY, USDJPY, EURGBP and GBPUSD. Results as I type are, starting balance £1702.85, present balance £3087.76, banked profit £1384.91, current open trades +£268.06. Pretty good so far imo.Ignored
DislikedPete---It looks like this setup gives good enough signals that Alma can be used instead of Alf. I'll post the chart I'm looking at. It's also got a 144EMA on it, which, as you can see, that pinbar bounced right off of.Ignored
DislikedHi Pete. Can't recall if I've previously posted my main reason for wanting to automate this Alf/Alma system, so at the risk of repeating myself, I'll state it here. It was to capitalize on the strong, definitive moves that often occur during the London session, that, unfortunately for me, kicks off at midnight my time. The plan was to turn it on at bedtime and turn it off in the morning, when I could then trade the market manually.
I'm lucky that I have all day, every day to experiment with this. And I have, for months on end now. I don't believe...Ignored
