Wondering why no trade was placed. My user inputs match what's on the chart.

DislikedHi Pete. Followed the link and read your post. Good stuff.
Just started testing the Pinhead bot and at this point I'm not too sure about it in its current configuration. So far the key seems to be optimizing the trading hours for each pair. But the MA is another problem. Nanningbob is trying out an indi called TMA with his system so I thought it might be worth a try. The attached charts have 2 TMA indies (they're adjustable) and the SS arrows. I had ALF on it, too, but couldn't see what advantage it offered, so off it came and what was left looked...Ignored
DislikedPinhead,
DO NOT use this "TMA" indi: it is repainting all the time and USES FUTURE BARS TO LOOK VERY (TOO) PRETTY.
Forget about it.
You should use "tmatrue" instead, which is the same basis: it is LWMA with a channel of made of n*ATR;
It does'nt look as nice, but it is the uggly truth behind the shiny "princess"...
You will find the "useful" part of tmatrue in calcTma() function.

DislikedThanks SQ. What about SuperSignal? I watched it on strategy tester and didn't see any problems, but woke up this morning to a lot of arrows pointing the wrong way.

DislikedThe focus of this thread has changed, so I have re-done page 1.
This thread is now about developing PH's ideas. Keep 'em coming guys. Come to some firm conclusions and either I or sq will code them.

DislikedBe careful what you ask for.
Trying to get the EMA right is like playing Whack-a-Mole. How about a version with an 'OnlyTradeLong' or 'OnlyTradeShort' option in the user inputs, based on each user's own interpretation of trend direction, since it's so subjective anyway, and eliminate the EMA altogether?

DislikedPinhead, Steve, I suggest we add the ALMA cross over as a confirming entry criteria to this EA. I suggest ALMA mainly as I know Steve has used it in another EA recently, alternatively using a normal moving average cross of the ALF will do the same thing. This helps to remove some of the poorer entries as it avoids entries during narrow ranging periods. I have attached examples of price and renko bars to show how it works.
I'm confident this will work as its one of the primary entry signals I use
