I don't need it. I don't want it. I wish it would go away.
I've lived in America all my life. I grew up on a farm. Farming was supposed to be the original beneficiary of Daylight Savings Time. Software in electronic clocks have the dates for switching built into them. So when the government decides to make changes in the date, chaos ensues.
The time change was supposed to help farmers so that they could adjust their schedule as the seasons change the time of sunset. Some nanny state bureaucrat decided that farmers weren't smart enough to adjust their own schedule. Harsh, but partially true.
To be fair, it was also supposed to help farmers who had family members in school so that the kids would be available when they could be useful. Just like the 9-month school schedule was supposed to do.
This supposes that local schools would be without the ability to identify something useful to the families of their students and adjust their schedules accordingly.
