"Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas is quite a good read. Although I would not necessarily say that it is the best forex book out there, as a guide book, Douglas effectively explains his approach to trading and steer you in the right mindset for successful trading.

You can start with Dummies series, tells you all about forex can be read in a day.

I am looking for a book to understand the fundamentals, to understand the market as a whole..

I'm not interested in technical stuff i got my main tacktic.

Hi, I am just beginning fx trading (no real money account yet). It seems to me to be pretty general advice to stick to a small number of currency pairs rather than try to play a bunch of them at once. So my question is, are there books that deal with specific pairs of currency rather than the market as a whole? or does it make a difference? I would assume that while each currency pair behaves roughly the same way (in terms of reaction to indicators, news, etc.) they will have some differences that should be pretty important for a serious trader to learn.

I'm aware that this is beyond my scope at the moment, but I am just curious and still pretty fascinated as to how this whole thing works.

The best book is YOUR OWN PRACTICE. Don`t waste ur time reading books explaining forex fundsmentals on 1000s pages. Just open an account and good to go.

I've read so many books that I can't keep track of them all. However, the best book I've ever seen on trading is one that I've never seen mentioned on this forum. It was given to me by a fellow trader. I'm not going to mention it. The point I'm making is that one should always be learning because you just never know what you'll find, even after you think you've got it all figured out.

It might not be the best book I've read (due to amazingly poor editor work) but its a great read to fully understand the amount of work it takes becoming a profitable trader. The book is named "One Good Trade" and is written by Mike Bellafiore who takes you inside a successful prop trading firm with 60 traders and share how they train traders to become successful.

I think many will be surprised to see some of the brightest people available with top degrees from top schools and former athletic champions takes 6-8 months of training to become profitable with some of best training-programs, surrounded by profitable traders and great mentors, working 12 hours 5 times a week. Even with that amount of support, many fails.

Keep in mind it's simply my opinion. Another thing to consider is what is important varies from person to person. My goal wasn't to be mysterious, but simply to point out that one should never stop learning. The idea that there is ONE book that is the best forex book is false.

Understand, didn't mean to put pressure on you Joke aside, you seem to be an experienced man who have read a lot so I wanted to check if I have missed a good book.

if its about bucket shops, i guess it wont be worth the time

I think its a good book. Some of the very few books with interesting and profitable strategies, IMO.

From my slightly over one year of challenging experience I would say delete the word "play" from your vocabulary, focus on ONE pair with 2 correlating pairs and get the no brainer trades pdf (google for it).

thanks for the reply watchtower, i just found billyrayvalentine's thread and will look into it when i have the time.



I just started reading "trading in the zone" and my initial reaction was that it was like "the secret" applied to forex trading ("all it takes is positive thinking and you WILL make money in the forex market!"). he has made some good points though about fear clouding your rational thinking, so i'll reserve judgement until i've finished reading it.
