This is a basic template with Roy indi at the bottom set at 240M , it gives you an instant visual of the trend.

With smTrio set to 240,15

It will generate an arrow if 15M agrees with 240M trend.

From this you can now build different charts for different pairs ...with different settings by changing Roy indi and/or smTrio

Possible settings smTrio

60 5
60 15

on Roy 60

240 5
240 15
240 30 5

on Roy 240

I suggest 60 15 and/or 240 15 as a start.

It is best to master the basics first before you attempt to scalp short term.
Ideally you need to set up buy/sell scripts as well as scripts or ea to close all positions , close by symbol , close at $ equity or close at account % etc

Oh no ... advice taken and appreciated. I have you know I even started a trading plan and my own checklist and a trading journal with screenshots of my trades and let's not forget the pages of notes I have taken from the thread

I am very serious about using this system exclusively and trading full time ...

If it is worth doing , it is worth doing it right... whatever system you end up trading, having the basics in place with a proper plan is the only way to do it.
As a pilot , you know the value and importance of a checklist..right???

If you are trading 60-15-5 you trade in the direction of the 60
If you are trading 240-5 ....you trade in the direction of the 240

By the way, I was going to mention....if I was you, I would trade one system, you have added bollinger bands and supertrend(trendmagic) to your charts.......they are not part of the trix method that Glen is teaching

Thanks for advice. I have found that blindly following the indy and adding the system rules does not work. The ea follows the system rules and does not show a profit. The ea works on the 5 min indy as well which Glen as far as I understand has found to be not reliable. Maybe with some different inputs it would be worthy as a testing method. Some sort of discretion is needed---whether in determining the trend as Glen suggests (by other means than trix) or in filtering the entry.
We have all learnt that too many indys are bad and the other ones on my screen shots are used in other methods. I agree with you and will remove them on any future shots.

My apologies for that earlier post. Through haste and inattention I have been mistakenly using the wrong combinations of settings and will use Glens template in the future.

Just a word of advice on using the 240M TF.

Trix will signal a change in trend only on the close/open of a new 240M candle.
Because of time differences between brokers the candles will have different opening and closing times and signals will differ.

I use 2 pricefeeds.

GMT
GMT +2

It is adequate because every 2 hours you have a "new" 240M candle

I notice that when I change the signal shift from 1 to 0, I get the signal sooner

glen.....I believe you have a 1 in there, but I am wondering if a zero would be better, sort of like an early warning?

Also, what does "average method" mean, I know you have a "1" in there

Hi,

Yes , you will get the alert earlier but it may disappear again if PA moves the other way. Setting 1 is a confirmed signal...like Roy indi.

The "1" on the other setting is the Trix setting.
