I did not release the mq4 file for the indicator because I want to finish building it on my own. Will release at some time....but here is my problem....

From version 1.2 - this works...and uses the close of the candle as the anchor for price

double LastHigh = iHigh (NULL,lookupTimeFrame,iHighest(NULL,lookupTimeFrame,MODE_HIGH,z-x,x));
double LastLow = iLow (NULL,lookupTimeFrame,iLowest( NULL,lookupTimeFrame,MODE_LOW ,z-x,x));

double Range = (LastHigh-LastLow);
double atr = iATR(NULL,PERIOD_D1,ATRDays,i)/2.0;


R1 = LastClose+atr*BuyEntryFib;
R2 = LastClose+atr*BuyTPFib;
R3 = LastClose+atr*BuySLFib;
R4 = LastClose+Range*1.1/ 2.0;

Now I want to use the open price, instead of close...so I made this change

Now it won't compile..says ATR variable not defined. Any ideas?

I have visually gone through the chart, setting stops at 0.0 works better than setting it at 23.6.

In the latter case there are a lot of false stopouts which go to 100% target after stop being hit.

I will monitor it in real time and maybe with a small position from Monday, setting long and short positions at the same time at NY close, 9pm GMT 10pm London time

Hopefully the indicator is sorted out by then to anchor the pivot to day's open making life a little easier.

Thanks for the thoughts on 23.6.

When the anchor is working using open maybe we can get CCT to put in when we anchor as an option based on UTC_GMT. That way, we could test with London Close, or say 10 am EDT, 11 am EDT, 12 pm EDT (when the London and NY overlap ends).

This feature is already built in the indicator, it is called "hour shift"

Correct....just change the hour shift and you can anchor it to the close for any hour....and it treats the prior 24 hours as the "prior day".

I'm attaching the file....the most recent one that works. It's a pivot indicator that I've modified as a start to the process. I'm really not much of a coder....others can do this much faster and with better code....so with that in mind...here are my thoughts:

1. Indicator should anchor to the open or close of the bar, as selected as an input....simple but I could not get it to work.

2. As it stand now, there is a label offset that applies to all labels. It repositions the label horizontally and vertically. Ideally, we would have two label offsets....one for the Buy Fib Entries...and one for the Sell Fib entries. This is why I added the comments...to avoid the collision of labels and to keep the chart clean. I'm suggesting price labels are not important.

3. We might get a bit more clever about the fib lines....for example, it might do this...

BuyFib5
BuyFib4
BuyFib3
BuyFib2
BuyFib1
BuyFibEntry
BuyFibStop
SellFibStop
SellFibEntry
SellFib1
SellFib2
SellFib3
SellFib4
SellFib5

And you enter the fib levels that suit you...and would allow for the eventual movement of stops according to the fib level progression, as previously discussed. The way the levels work in this indicator, you are limited to 8, so this might require either a different style of indicator....or using two...one for the buys and one for the sells. The architecture of this in relation to the possibilities/limitation of MT4 are beyond me.

4. I'd like to see if the fibs could be anchored to the Old Dog pivot....but that's for another day.

I'd say we take Barney's lead any further development on this.

1. I think we need to ask if anyone can modify the indicator to include the ability to to select using the Open or Close of the anchor Candle.

So, any coders out there?
Would you give try to allowing us to select using the Open or Close?

2. The label thing, personally, since I brought it up, is a non-issue.

However, if anyone would like to help out ... have at it.

3. It would be nice to get the indicator updated to select using the Open or Close of the anchor Candle for the pivot.

Then lets look at the multiple fib lines....doesn't mean we can't discuss. In fact see below.

4. Let's keep the discussion in this thread for indicator, ea, and trades.

I'll post the Blue and Red Fibs, and the indicator set for buy or sell at 50, tp at 100 and sl at 0 .... labels will just overlap.

Hi All,

Based on above conversation.

I'll keep posting the Blue and Red Fib.

I'll post the trade using the indicator for the following - Experiment 2:

Buy TP at 100
Buy Entry at 50
Buy SL at 0

Sell SL at 0
Sell Entry at 50
Sell TP at 100

The Buy and Sell Labels, and the Previous Candle Close Lable will over lap.

We are going to start talking about "progressive" fibs a.k.a. how CancuckCT has been looking at trading.

Where do we start the Trailing Stop (TS) at?

Does the TS move up based on the Buy 1-5, and Sell 1-5 Fib lines with the idea that the the TS is how we exit the trade?

Not quite right now.....only current day works. But I'd like to know how to make all the lines like that....as an option in the indicator.....so you have a backtest mode...and a trading mode. What drawing all the line like that pivot will do is allow you to do a visual backtest of the breakout level to see if it aligns with prior support and resistance.

Actually, that last version of indicator does not change pivot if you change the offset...it is stuck on the open for the day...regardless of the offset used. To avoid confusion..I suggest it be removed until fixed.
