I agree....131.30/131.00 and possible as far as 130.45. Daily close will have a big influence from here where we are heading.....139 or 129.. and of course the the ever presence of BOJ intervention....should I forget

It's official - the day in GU (and EU) is completely stupid - went for some hours of shuteye during prime market hours - and we've not moved, vacillating in a 40 pip range. Hard to say what's up - I'd side with distribution and lack of interest to rise. Got my 1.576 - & glad I took some profit earlier at least - but I really expected way more, at least in some direction. Consolidated futures volumes don't know what to do and are of no help. Still thinking something's going to snap over in Euroland - maybe after the close in an hour. Still thinking we see 1.57 before 1.59

Still lots of noise out of Europe on debt ... EURUSD looking toppy to me. GU/Sterling futures chart follows - basically shows sellers above and below range. Done for the day.

Looks like good news to me? Government getting out.

If they think they can sell off the shares with no problem I don't really see why it would have a negative effect.

I saw 5950 is very strong resistance atm where break , will continue north to at least 1.6250 ...

How ever when i take a look at current H4, i saw if today close below 1.5830 possible we may reach 1.5670 is there..then from there we can decide continue back to 1.55 area or not...

But i more bias for 1.5670 first then.... possibility will add long from here or wait for more bearishness toward 1.55 area...

otherwise if today close above 5830 then yes 5950 straight away....

just my 2 cent

I think next month should be retrace for eu and gu. Today close above 1.5820 then tomolo i be looking for upside finish up the business before turn into more retracement

G, what do u think of the bloomberge news what going to crash? Is it will reflect to be usd strength or weaknes?

I think there's just very lil holding this baby from dropping to 130.50 or even 129.20 area. Maybe fear of further intervention. How do you take?

Not big enough for a crash IMO. It's basically a fire sale/auction to prop up some more money, and what they lost, they'll print. In the end, the market will welcome it, as it - on the surface - stimulates demand & creates liquidity. Check POMO (thx Malcolm) and Only reason Stocks Have Risen.

This venture is just another undertaking by a branch of the gov't plunge protection team. Reminds me of the quasi-bankrupty fiasco called General Motors. They sucked back $50B from the govt', supposedly paid back $6.7B. They'd burned through $10s of billions prior to that, defaulted on $70B as part of the quasi-bankruptcy, left the gov't shares equating to 10cents on the dollar (at best $27B of previous bond stakeholders receive 10% equity value), and now want to raise $20B through a IPO moneygrab. And, by 2013, the GM pension plans will have cost US taxpayers $173B. Oh, and I forgot to mention the previous NYSE stock that fireballed into nothingness, even after a reverse 100-to-1 exchange. Chalk up another few hundred billion of lost US citizen & investor buy & hold share investors. Not sure if their shares actually had value in the end - 25 cents was mentioned, but they definitely hit $1 before delisting; interesting because the previous lowest point for GM was, $1.25, in 1933.

If I ran my life and family like GM has run itself, I would have been better off than Donald Trump and George Soros combined.

Each time we think (OK, me) Sterling is about to launch, you get the below threat; I know it's news, but it questions that catalyst that will launch GBP somewhere. As Geppy mentioned and as I've been blabbing for days, GBP looks pretty weak - the upthrusts have so little inspiration to them, and compared the the euro, it's worse off than a wheel chair bound senior citizen. Sticking to my expectation for more downturns; if the data's bad, 1.567 would not shock me. The fact the the euro is default rising against new USDX lows and GBP is not participating is very concerning.

September 29, 2010 14:16 ET: GBPUSD FAILS TO KEEP UP WITH EURUSD after fresh evidence of weakening UK housing (mortgage approvals at 7-month low, M4 money supply growth at new low of 1.9%). As GBPUSD struggles to regain $1.5840s (76.4% retracement), GBP downside seen more optimal against JPY and CHF, as GBPJOY eyes 131.70, followed by 130.80. GBPCHF seen retest 1.5200 lows. Meanwhile the case for higher EURUSD (above $1.38) was outlined in previous IMT. Tonights September release of UK GfK consumer confidence (11:01 GMT) exp at -19 from -18 could also see further losses in GBP crosses in Asia trade nearing the aforementioned levels.
