Hey guys... I had shorts in both GBP/JPY and GBP/USD last night. I closed both for profit and sat for awhile on the sidelines. I watched and felt like things were acting odd. As much as I wanted/expected both pairs to correct further for better long entries, it just didn't feel like they were going to. I finally decided to put order in to go long GBP/JPY at 132.15 and GBP/USD at 1.5630... I was filled for both overnight and we're looking good.

I'm targetting 1.5900 initially in GBP/USD and I'm not sure on my GBP/JPY target yet, but it could be as high as 139.00... I'll have to do some more chart analysis tonight.

yep, seems to be a logical initial target there, but I'll assess things once we reach those levels rather than clearing my position. We could definitely pop right through that area and continue higher. And I never like giving up a good position

Thanks - it's the Kan/Obama meeting I'm hoping that is received with an it's-OK-to-intervene. A Friday morning Japan intervention would do me just fine: UJ should be about 84 even by then, and with almost 60% of the last BoJ intervention undone, it'd be time for them to throw some more money at it, or, risk looking foolish and wasteful once again. Nothing like getting to at least 87 and playing mind games with any remaining shorts over the weekend.

I learned my lesson from yesterday and am banking a majority of profitable positions given we're pretty much rangebound in GU, GY and breakouts seem to be limited to barely 30 pips: that was the case in the last hour when GU hit 1.574. I'm seeing some strength in sterling, but I think we're capped for the day, unless major USD weakness shows up. Seems to be a "you run with the strength baton" game between EURUSD and sterling; I was in a gorgeous long entry until the BS Portuguese Budget news knocked me out. Euro base of 1.33/1.32 seems pretty good - I'm hoping will hold, but the run has been a bit too healthy recently - keep reading 1.35 is feasible from the experts - am in long, again with fingers crossed.

Anything post 10:30am these days is terrible for fx trading - equities are 2 steps forward 1 step back, but correlations to fx are poor, combined with getting back to the 30 minute pop moves, is making for a terrible NY (and overall) fx trading session. If you're not in a position from 6/7am EST or from the London session, you're not making any real money. Not sure how the big boys are making their quotas, but hopefully they/something budges things soon.
