is there any softwares out there that can retrieve market data and simulate a history of markets and allow you to place trade etc for quick practicing of forex in offline mode?

In addion to Flyer's excellent suggestions you could try this one. . .
I like the above sim except you can only place one trade at a time as far as I know.
Also, I have recently purchased a forex sim from forex tester. I really like it because you can test adding to your trade as well as hedge trades. It is available for a price, just visit their site.

Forextester is very good tool. But there is one big psychological issue when using it. You can always go back and close or open trade when you see that's going to happen in a future 
It it's is so easy to convince yourself that this is exactly that you were going to do
In my opinion its is better for novice "traders" to spent money on FT license than fund live account and blow it in few weeks.
