If they are so profitable, why they accept students for fee?

I am not pointing to any particular person, and this question is not restricted to FF.

I have seen people off-line, they boast of how profitable they can trade and they accept students for a very low fee to them (but not that low to the public) for teaching the best possible trading methods. Some of them said they only one out of several dozen of their trades is failed. One told me that they are so skilful that they can precisely predict the particular price of a instrument at a particular time. Some of them keep emphasis that you are lucky to have the chance to join them for the fee they offer. According to their description of their trading skill, they should be already billionaires.

And the above question keep warning me off from them. If you have explanation for this or if you have your stories to share, please do.
You've heard of the tulip, gold, real estate bubbles... but there's another (huge) one: Education bubble.

I heard John Hopkins University is one of the best meds school in the world.
They have credibility. Think you can study there for free?

Don't mix the subject with the object.
I am asking the motivation of the teachers, but not the expectation of the students.

the only motivation is making money. like everything else in life. If you have the necessary credibility & skills to teach, then you have the right to sell it. It's up to the students/buyers to decide if the particular tutor is worth the asking fee.
But to think that all tutors should just teach everything they know for free is just naive.

OK. Fair enough. But if their skills are strong like those I have described in my first post, there is no way they need the tutorial money.

So the time they spend showing other people how to profit from markets should be done for free?

John Hopkins also has a profitable hospital unit, should they just give away free tuition to every schmoe that wakes up thinking "Hey, I think Id like to be a doctor today". Because that is exactly how most people start out learning forex. Dropout rates are close to the same.

If they arent willing to spend money to make money then maybe they should stick to the 9-5 grind.

So you think someone that knows what they are doing should just sit around helping others all day? If you are really profitable but then switch to helping people out all day for free then how would they support themselves?

Even Socrates had to make some coin to feed himself.

If they are highly profitable and making extremely easy money from the market as they claim, I would think most likely they would concentrate on trading rather than marketing and teaching.

If they want to teach as leisure activities, they will not need to find strangers to teach, already enough friends around them want to learn.

I have never suggest that they should teach strangers for free, although you two have been trying to create this impression

Ahhh, I was totally misunderstanding your question then.

I agree with you on the above statement.

Edit, For me personally, I wouldnt give up trading to teach someone but I do think that if someone were successful and wanted to help others learn than they have the right to ask for some form of compensation. This can range in several forms from money to starting a thread here to gain new ideas. Unfortunately it seems that new ideas are few and far between lately and good new ideas are even fewer.

I delibrately set the thread title like that in the Commercial Forum to act as an alert for visitors before paying tutorial fees for anyone.

Although I have the above experiences off-line, I think something similar may happen here. I would say there could be dishonesty inside, whoever says forex trading gives easy money and still looks for others to pay them tutorial fees.

Yes, anyone who says trading forex is easy money there is only one thing to do - step away and run as fast as you can!

Of course they need money. Some people have skill but no money. So that's the easiest way to collect money while helping people. And with that money, one day they would trade.

i think the point he's making put in your parlance would be had those very same doctors who teach there been capable of running lucrative successful full time practices in consulting/surgery would they still be teaching there full time on a salary?

Not sure if the premise of your argument is correct or not. Quite some time ago, a very respected trader- Darkstar, decided to take on 1 student to teach him everything he knew, and it was for free. He got all potential candidate to pm him as to why they were suitable and he chose his candidate. I think the chosen candidate would not have asked him to show some bank statements, or some sort of proof he was a profitable trader etc.

Like I said, it was a long time ago, even I applied but was unsuccesful.
