Dude, are you sure you want to try trading FX

You did not load the Skins properly, otherwise they would be an option:

Make sure the skins are in the Candleworks --> FXTS2 ---> Skins folder

Ok. you see the black version ( midnight skin ) i have right? That's FXCM, and the midnight skin is included. Of cuz i know how to change it.

But for dbfx, there is NO other skin to choose. I actually called dbfx, and they said they only have the default skin. So i have no idea why u have it. Did u d/l the dbfxts2install file from www.dbfx.com??

I do have the midnight.skn file in that folder after i installed it, but I CANNOT choose it because it's NOT an option, as you can see the on the thumbnail that i posted here b4.

So you downloaded the FXCM custom skin files (.exe) and ran them? Please post a picture of your Skin folder with the path like I did here:

FYI, db is all business all the time; they don't screw around with any custom skins.

Ok, I just ran a a quick test by downloading the db platform on my other computer and ran one the FXCM skins. Everything went as it should:

Yes. i have done everything right (more than 10 times) That's what I did because dbfx doesnt come with any other skin. So I copy and paste the skin files from fxcm. (those are not .exe files, just .skn files) But still it is not shown there as you can see. I even tried on another computer too, but still doenst work. That's why i have a VERY BIG QUESTION MARK why you can. Did you unlock some hidden features or something? I have no problem with FXCM.

PS: i have to uninstall fxcm everytime when i install dbfx becuz we r not allowed to hv both platform installed at the same time.

Ok, that is the problem. You have to download the .exe skin files from FXCM; see my web link above, and then run the exe file for each skin.

See the "INSTALL" text file; my screenshot above, must be generated and placed in the skin folder. It registers the skin with the platform software, without it, the skin doesn't exist.

You're welcome.

Like you, I didn't care for the stock db skin, so I did a little research about the platform. I discovered FXCM was the author of the platform, so I then looked for customizations (skins, indicators... etc.).

Just a quick update on the current CFTC ruling and db; really not much to report.

I hope db doesn't string this along and come 10/15/2010 I'm no longer able to log onto my trading platform, then get an email from my bank informing me of a pending transfer/deposit for $xxxxx is in process.

Come-on db, pony up $50,000 for NFA registration. You have the money.

Yes.

EU is 1.7 pips 99% of the time even during heavy news. Slippage is frequent, but goes both ways (+/- $).

All in all, I'm happy.

Boston is used by just about all MT4 brokers that want to try and get into the interbank market it seems. FXCM are probably the biggest ones running it. I've had a look at the platform, tested the demo relentlessly and opened a small live account with them. Service is a bit poor as I am in NZ but other than that prices and liquidity are good.

From your past experience, how far the slippage will goes before our order will filled by them? 1 - 3 pips or higher?

I would say most of the slips have been in the .5 to 1.5 pip range.

Should mention, too, I had a couple 3+ pip slips and issues with the platform freezing temporarily. After I had no luck talking with their tech support, I started to pull indicators off my chart one by one. Sure enough, I found out one the indys was causing the problem. Just mentioning this because sometimes the problem can be completely unrelated to market conditions or an overly active broker.

0.5 - 1.5 pips for slippage is still acceptable from my perspective. Does it still valid for any limit order during extreme volatile market?

As example, price at 1.0000, and buy stop limit order 1.0020, then suddenly price up to 1.0080 (80 pips) in less than 5 second. So, does your order still will be filled at 1.0020 + (0.5 / 1.5 )?

I cannot really say as I haven't run into that extreme condition, but I imagine the slip would be much larger... especially in my condition because I have order type "At Best." You could always set an upper slip limit if you wanted.

I see. Probably more traders will share their experience too.

I'm also wondering what will happen if they're starting to offer micro (1K) account in future.

dbFX is a white label of FXCM. It is just a business that tricks small traders by utilizing DB name.
