great article I found, just wondering what everyones thoughs are and how many monitors do u have?

I had a 30" dell that just burnt out, and so I'm using a spare 20" dell, still getting use to the resolution shock!

I have two monitors 24" each + a laptop. To be honest, I don't have too much use for the laptop, but I have gotten accustomed to using dual monitors.

More than that is not necessarily and doesn't improve trading at all. Quite frankly even having two monitors doesn't change your trading.

All the monitors from the image as probably just for show.

2x24 is equal to a 30". I gotta say i never appreciated my 30" til i moved back down to 20", Its harder to see multiple timeframes, indicators are harder to read. I find myself having to maximize one chart to see everything clearly.

Hmm, that's true with larger screen its harder to read some things...like the vertical and horizontal scales on MT4.

I've just been blessed with extremely good vision so its not a problem for me. Plus I like the space. Once my vision goes, I'll probably have to drop to a smaller screen
Haha, yeah i think I've come to that point ! hopefully they will come out with 3d glass for my MT soon! lol

I currently use 4x 24" which have improved my life-quality as a trader. I think it really helps to constantly watch the market on 3 of those screens while doing other things on the last one.
Measure twice, cut once
I think it depends mostly on your style of trading. The more active you trade the more you would need at least one additional screen. I use 3 screens and they are more or less enough for me. I may add another one later on for browsing and other stuff - so I guess aediaz1's setup would be best for me as well.
Another thing - if you trade actively you will find once you switch to 2 (or more) monitors it will be extremely hard to go back to 1

I got one 92cm Plasma television which I use to trade

.. not really but thats what i want, so ic an sit back in a lazy boy with my feet up and a wireless mouse.

I have 2x 23" monitors. This is enough to trade 1 pair only! WIthout having to juggle screens

Can I ask where you get a 30" monitor where I live I'm always looking out for monitors in the catalogues and the most they offer generally is 24". And thats rare.

Know any good online stores? Apart from ebay... checked there too

Newegg is a high class company... been doing business with them for years. Not always the absolute lowest $, but 9 out of 10 times I'll still purchase from them based my experiences with their customer service.

Get a lcdtv they are just as cheap - size ranges like 19 - 22 - 24 - 26 - 32 -37 etc - Amazon.com and buy.com has all my business

I use multiple monitors: 2x19", 2x24", and a 32" tv. There's also a laptop w/ a 13" screen in case there's a power outage. 3 different ISP feeds - DSL, cable, and 3g cell phone for the laptop. The cell phone feed almost never gets used. I trade fx and futures at the same time and its worth having all the views. The tv is just a monitor I don't even have it connected to the cable feed.

If I travel I take the laptop and it sends its video ouput wirelessly to a flatscreen in the room through a Netgear box

I trade from a 15 inch laptop. Never felt anything was lacking. Great experience.
When my PC recently died, I discovered that my replacement PC only had one graphics output (PCI-E? What's that then? ) so I could only run one monitor. It's more of a convenience to run two, again, as there's less alt-tabbing to view the 3 or 4 markets I trade.

exactly my setup, should arrive this week. im planning on doing exactly the same things on 4x24" as im doing now on one of them. not more windows or something, just everything _bigger_. less stressful for my eyes...

Hi,

This is nothing but a marketing gimmick,it doesn't mean that you need a bigger picture or better pixles ,better can have a 50" LCD TV or else a projector ,they had the option of parting the screens where you can select four display screens in a single monitor...

So whats the use of having 4 different size panels,and i find it is rather disturbing and brain eating then providing ease.

My PC also only has one video card but you can buy a device that plugs into a USB slot and acts a a second video card. Cost me about $60 works awesome.

Sounds like it works better than the one I had when I used a laptop for trading, VTBook, every time I moved the mouse the displays couldn't keep up, ended up sending it back, it wasn't cheap either!

I mainly use a desktop for trading, with a couple of cheap Matrox G450 cards, <$50 off eBay and the capacity for up to 8 screens but 3 seem to be more than enough!

Like Setebos and others have said, once you've had multiple screens it's hard to go back!

What do you guys use for managing your multiple monitor setup, I'm using UltraMon which seems to work ok.
If you're ever thinking of purchasing a new computer, I'd go with one of these bad boys.
