Right now I'm running metatrader demo which I think is getting its data-feed from interbankfx which is a 30-day demo so my question is:

When my 30-day demo expires is there another place to get a data feed for metatrader since I don't have the capital to open an account with interbankfx?

I want to run mt4 just for the charting for VWB is that possible or does it have to be tied to a account somewhere?

just goto www.metaquotes.net and download MT4. then just create a demo account with them. the demo account is valid for a year. have fun.

Is there any simple way for me to have the MT4 show EST instead of the default time zone?

nope... there is no way to switch from server time to local time
I just saw your post... i use SNC Investments at:

though i'm still not sure if daily close time matters all that much according to my studies. Pivot points are off only by a handful of pips from the 5pm ET Close (SNC), 6pm ET close (Metaquotes), and 7pm ET close (InterbankFX). By the time NY closes there is not much movement for the next couple of hours in general on most days morning Asian session...so pivots calculated on the daily close are relatively close.
Just curious to know - I have an Interbankfx demo that I have set up with a number of different screen profiles. Once I open a new MT4 demo somewhere else since Interbankfx's does not seem to want to work at all today - can I save/import these profiles?

I don't want to have to recreate them as they took a while to get set up. I'm new with MT4 and I'm still learning my way around it.

Save Profiles with File>Profiles>Save As and give the profile a name.

Save Templates with Charts>Template>Save Template and give the template a name.

I can't connect either saying my account is invalid. Anyone else having this problem? Also, the MT website looks real strange.

I'm a novice fx initiate, currently using metatrader to paper trade only. I've yet to put my money where my mouth is!
As I understand it your problem is due to metatrader having recently decided to re-number their client accounts files. All accounts will now be numbered starting from a base of one million. Please don't ask me why they decided to do this. Anyway, the bottom line is that you will need to set up a new account via www.metaquotes.net/.
You may also need to uninstall your present version before downloading the latest one - though I'm not sure about this. Perhaps in order to save some of your present settings it would be worth first trying to write onto your current file location. If successful your data feed Account Type details will have changed from "Interbank FX -Demo" to "demoforex - usd ".

I've got the same problem....looks like an uninstall/reinstall....bit of a drag i hope its only the demos that are twitchy

You can create a new demo account with them again.

Hi Everyone,

Theres not to many things I can answer here as I'm a newbe, however this is one I can as I have just encountered and fixed this problem.

Interbank just moved all their demo's to a new server, this was their message, you'll need to open a new demo:

All demo accounts will be removed from the current server.

If you're receiving this message it means you still have a demo account on this server.

If you would like to continue to use a demo account, please start by deleting any existing demo accounts.

This is done by finding the "Accounts" folder and clicking the + sign.

Right click on any demo accounts listed and choose delete.

Repeat this process until all DEMO accounts are removed.

To open a new demo on our new demo server:

Click Tools, Options and in the box next to server; type 66.114.120.22

Click the OK button.

Now click File, Open An Account.

Fill out the form and choose next.

Click the line that has 66.114.120.22 and then choose next.

You will have a new demo account in 1000000 number range.

Click on 'View' go to 'Terminal'.

In Terminal window there is one Tab for 'Alerts', select it. Than Right click and create an alert for the pair you want.

Yes.
Using the right provider is especially important when you are working with 4hr & Daily timeframes. The rollover time for the candles/bars is calculated using different time spans from different providers and one provider's four hour bar can start 1 or 2 hours before or after another's. This can really mess up some system's entries and exits. Thanks to Vensik for his work: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=1512428


Took a few hours to find this, I had to plough through about 40 providers, but UGMFX supplies data with EST US time. Their website is here (NB home page doesn't work) www.ugmfx.com/sitemap.html . If the site doesn't work, its MT4 server config file "UGMFX-Demo.srv" is available in the forums a compressed file under "Metatrader Servers" or similar.

Woops, just seen I can attach the file.
So... unzip & drop the attachment into the MT4 "Config" folder. Then, in MT, go File | Open an Account, tick Subscribe & then select UMGFX.
