Isn't a moving average an indicator?

True but I use them as support/resistance(as taught by james16) not really the conventional way most people do.

Man that post is old too where you dig this stuff from my trading from october to now is whoa

Hi there,

It's not clear for me if having multiple screens means having multiple PCs running.
Can you run multiple screens on one PC?
Another thing, I use MetaTrader4 and it would be ideal for me to open a window with a daily chart on one screen, another window (from the same instance of MT4) with a 1H or 30M chart on another screen, and the "operating" window with 5M/1M chart i would use to instigate the trade.
Does anybody know if it is possible?

Thank you.

Of course. Windows will allow you to run two monitors, just plug another into the back of your PC/laptop, right click on desktop, go to settings and extend your desktop onto your other screen. Installing further monitors beyond that gets a bit more complicated.

Not sure you'll be able to run the same instance of MT4 on different monitors without stretching the program over the two screens, unless you can open it twice.

Yeah I prefer one big ass screen too instead of 2 smaller ones.
I have a 28" Widescreen and my Laptop is always on too.

I'm watching BlueRays on it with my friends quite often.
Couldn't do that with 2x 22". And the resolution is higher too which means
bigger chart.

If you need two monitors you probably are trading from a reactionary frame of mind instead of with a plan. I'm not sure how your brain could possibly effectively process all the information coming in from two monitors in a way that's focused and laser-directed at making smart decisions.

It's more likely that the excess information may trigger negative emotions of doubt and uncertainty, or worse yet, emotions of overconfidence, which might cause you to lose money.

Of course if the second monitor is used for watching YouTube videos while you're waiting for your trades to set up, then that's ok.

I use 2 computers and 4 monitors , trading PC has a 28in and a 19in widescreen on each side of it. Second computer has a 15in that is mounted above the right 19in. Do I need it ? No, 1 would be enough for what I do, the others are just nice to have and look at Really if you think about it 1 should be enough for any trader. If you are scalping, then price moves pretty quick and no need or time to look at a bunch of other stuff. If you are a long term trader you have all the time in the world to change charts etc and look at things. Of course more may help but not necessary.

They're called multi output video cards,I use Matrox. Also Nvidia out there.
Have three X four output cards, and a dozen 17" TFT.

Use very minor indicators. The monitors make life 1000 times easier, don't have to toggle between time frames, account, etc.

Depending on the time of day and any market overlap I monitor anywhere from 3 to 6 pairs,2 time frames displayed, and one monitor reserved for account info for easy exits.Whatever will fit.

Nothing gets past me.

When NA time frame is on,and certain pairs have fizzled out I usually trade eminis as well and keep an eye on my options with any left over monitors.
Check out stock news, commodity prices, any news etc.
Or maybe I download music, youtube, look at travel, cars, women, etc.

Bike machine, rower, gym, and an easy chair round out the office.
The harder I work,the luckier I get.

Man...talk about an old thread...I started this 4 years ago.

Multiple monitors definitely worth it...doesn't cost much and most laptops allow you to plug in a second monitor anyway.
