what t/p do you go for?
Ignored
No set rules for TP at the moment. Anything aroung the 50 - 70 pips mark if i can. Also using Steve's MPTM to set B/E after approx 30 pips.

Just playing it safe at the moment. I have only been "studying" forex for about 1 year, as i mentioned in an earlier post, i'm just happy to be taking profits for now

Is there a way for the indicators to count a specific number of 4h bars?... because depending on the resolution of your screen, indicators present different values or its the same deal if the chart shift is turned on... indicators count less bars.
Trade in the now

guys guys guys, quit complicating the simplicity. Here is what your basic screen should look like. This is the standard look on MT4. If you use this there are no problems. I have been using this form of the MT4 4H as my basic screen for over 2 years. It works, you dont need to over think your way out of it. Take a look at the screen, make your decision and go. My win ratio for the last two years is over 75% and with version 5.0 over 83% dont try fixing something that isnt broke. You arent going to avoid losing trades or hitting runner trades no matter what you do. There is no 100% system. Now making adjustments to fit your style that you are already experienced with is one thing, but if you make changes and you arent familiar with the changes, who is going to teach you???? MacMan and Swingman are experienced traders who have trading styles slightly different than mine but they know what these changes do to their trading. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO............................ KISS.

Closed out other trades that had gone into the hole and now were slightly profitable. Just took other profit trades because I was busy and did not want them to go back to losers. Lots of possibles today. See you later.

Look in the right hand corner of the thread where you see the paper clip and try downloading from there. If that doesnt work you need a different browser. I use FLOCK and I have never had download problems with it.

Hi Bob,

Interesting stuff you have going on here. I do like the idea of deciding what strategy to implement based on what you see on the charts. Question....are you making your judgements at the close of H4 bars?

And your hugger trades....those are often great breakout trades....seems to me that's another EA.....

Cheers

No my judgements are made by what I see on the screen. Closing bars always seemed silly to me. Why would you wait to get into a nice trade for 1, 2, or 3 hours because you want a bar to close? I studied that philosophy for about 15 minutes and said that is just stupid. When price hits the BB or crosses a MA line I am in, I dont wait for two hours later when it has already moved back down 25, 50, or 100 pips because I made up some dumb rule about waiting for a bar to close. Price does not move based on the TF of a bar, when price moves I make my move. I react to price action and what it is telling me. Open and closing of bars mean nothing except I just went from 3:59 to 4:00, that is all a closing bar means.

That's what I figureed....H4 ( or any unit that measures time) is arbitrary....I don't usually wait either.

correct me if i am wrong, please. but i think this is a good example of the confluence of blue and white line.
first circle: white and blue are moving together very tight. good and long move for about 500.
second circle: blue moves but white doesn't follow and separates from blue. weak move for "only" about 150 pips.

edit: the sell position doesn't come from this ea. just ignore it.

just curious in yr screen shot, why do you have a "sell-trade", shouldn't it be a "buy" trade ?

Yes that is correct. If you are in a trade and it crosses the 25MA (same as 200 on a 30M chart) and the blue and white are tight you are sitting on a very solid trade. I usually dont wait that long, It is kind of funny but I do a lot of scalping on a 4H chart. LOL instead of long runs.

You seemed to be enjoying. Keep going, we'll see you at the end of the road. I am not yet on the middle of my journey, but I hope to finish the race hoping to see the great gurus smiling victorious at the cross of the 1ma cross line.
