There are several - let Google do the walking.

I had a link in my bookmarks for a while but deleted it when I realized that brokers are not going to rush to upgrade so there is no rush to convert my favorite custom indicators.

I was wondering


1. whether 4 or 5 represents the version while mql stands for metaquotes or meta query language,

2. what are the key differentiating factors between mql4 and mql5

3. Is there a place from where i can read more about mql5 ?

decompiled code is not the way to go. You should at leass remove the header and rename the file. no one with common sence will help you with decompiled code, its not the way to go. get the author to change it.

What makes you think removing the header would deceive somebody competent from not recognizing decompiled code? People who decompile code don't deserve any advise - just scorn. That is common sense.

I intended it to point out that the person didnot ...know much(and tring to be nice about it), and in no way to advise him. Just the title of the files told me they were decompiled. let alone the header and variable naming.

Personally, I believe Metatrader made a big mistake of using a new scripting language.. This will screw alot of existing custom EA, Indicators, Scripts.. Many of which the authors are not supporting it and thus recoding is not possible.
There may be some "convertion" services out there, but I am sure the convertion wont be 100% accurate or compatible; likewise, some MT4 codes were distributed as EX4 by the vendors - no source code to convert.

perhaps the post was completely innocent....

sometimes it's quite clear people post code and have absolutely no idea it's decompiled.... they just don't know..... it's been obvious over the years when a fellow ff coder knew nothing of decompiled looks..... you could tell by their responses..... and i have watched those coders not knowing, slowly become aware of it...... so if a coder might not know, surely a non coder might not.....

we all could decompile.... i don't.... never have..... possibly never will..... but there might be some vaild reasons to......

one thing for certain..... if it gets posted or sold, it gets decompiled.....h
to trade and code, keep both simple... no call to impress....h

You could find decompilers for sale on the web even before there was a full release of MT4 out. Keeping my eye out to see if thats going to happen again with MT5. Who knows at $1,000.00 a pop it could be MT that is makeing it available.

I have done some work with a decompiler to my own code to work around it. but found no way to stop it but have found a way to really hide some code from the decompiler. Am wateing to see if MT makes it safer with 5;
If not I will develope this further but not on mt4 it would be a waste of time at this point.
