that pdf on page 2 definitely will not help. watch neo's video--that will give you more of an explanation than the pdf. hope this helps.

I now understand what you said as per the stop loss and TDI. It's rare to use or loose a 35 pip SL. It may be because I'm still not staying in long enough but the crossovers seem to reduce the number of pips needed for sl. Got 25 pips last night. Tonight is a little harder on g/j because of consolidation and limited movement but I'm still up with 6 trades. No losses...two were break even....

What are the settings for TDI?

I am missing a lot of good trades waiting for the green line to cross the red as the lines only move every 15 minutes! Is this normal?

fxtradz.... would recommend going thru compassfx.com to get your broker. I did and went with FXDD over 2 years ago when I changed brokers. Compassfx will go to bat for you if you ever have any problems with a broker they recommend and gets problems solved in your favor fast. They have saved me lots of pips and I only had to deal with them... not the broker... it's pretty sweet...

rahdo1... This thread is only 150 pages. When you look for a short cut it will cost you pips in the future for sure. Take the time to learn the method correctly. There is a lot of good information from many good and supportive people here.

Indicators.... The TDI is used per the default settings ultimatus. Most folks tweek their indicators some what when learning to use them. Fortunately we have lots of videos on the TDI. However I use it a bit differently with success for my own personal trading style. I like clean charts and indicators.

You can be successful trading on the 5 minute chart too but it changes all the numbers CH uses for the 15 minute chart. Just keep that in mind... smaller swings, etc....

You are a fine gentleman!!! Thanks for more great info! I'm thinking of leaving another broker....I don't trust them with my big bank. They fight me for everything and I usually lose. Does FXDD have windows based phone software? How is it?

I have been using the macd and stoch for my phone trading. I found a link by a gentleman that recreates the TDI with moving avergaes and such....for phone trading. (since you can't use custom indicators) It seems very close.

The TDI has made a big difference in my trading.

I'm using the 5 min and 15 min charts on e/u and g/j

15 win trades
5 loss trades
2 - 0 pip trades

22 pips up for the week. (interesting...averaging 1 pip per trade) I had one major loss and it was just poor luck. I'm definately a rookie at this. I caught my rash of losses last night.

I do have something I've been thinking about.....how about an "up progression" on the win side instead of doubling after a loss. I'm throwing this out for your input. Has anyone tried it?


I ran a conservative progression for the week and It shows a positive 10 pips. Here's the stats...

first number = pips, number in ( ) = units, = total pips won

12 (1) = 12w, 1 (1) = 1w, 8 (1) = 8w, 4 (2) = 8w, 3 (2) = 6w, 2 (2) = 4w, 2 (3) = 6w, -3 (3) = -9L,
-7 (2) = -14L, 1.5 (1) = 1.5w, 1 (1) = 1w, 1 (1) = 1w, 7 (2) = 14w, -12.5 (2) = -25L, -39 (1) = -39L,
6 (1) = 6w, -17 (1) = -17L, 15 (2) = 30w, 4 (2) = 8w, 4 (2) = 8w

The progression looks like this:
1w, 1w, 1w, 2w,2w,2w,3w,3L,2L, 1w,1w,1w, 2w,2L,1L,1w,1L,2w,2w,2w

#Wins = 114.5 pips
#Loss = 104.0 pips
Total pips win = 10

It lowers the risk of a very bad doubling run yet progresses on the win side. It drops down a unit after a loss. Starts over after two in a row. Is anyone using a more conservative progression after a loss?

Two questions.

Is the template you posted online the average price or standard Heiken Ashi candles?

I'm still wondering if the price channel is 5 ma low / 5 ma high?....that's what I'm using and seems correct.

Indeed this a tremendous thread about a good system that I am currently backtesting. A big thank you to all the contributors and especially Xaphod , Rio and Big E for making this possible. A couple of questions to any volunteer. Craig mentioned that his max stop loss was 35 pips. But in many instances, I have found that that by placing the stop below the swing high/low, it could be more than that. What do you guys do? Do you just pass on the trade or do you accomodate by reducing the size of your position (which is what I normally do in any trade, risking just 2% max of my account).

In the same line of thought, he also mentioned to trade on a break of the RC, but by howm much 2 pips, 3 pips... and does it take into account the spread? In my scenario I add 5 pips for a long trade and deduct 3 pips for any short trade. Is this the right way to enter the trade?

I think every trader may answer you slightly differently on this one, but for me, in general, unless I am feeling hard-headed for the day and don't want to budge my set lot size for the day (lets say it's 0.5), I will sometimes just go with 35 pips, even if that's not at the top/bottom of the RC. But when I'm trading at my best, I'll usually whip out my lot size calc and re-figure the proper (smaller) lot size to justify for the added SL (if and when it's over 35 pips).

Again, discretion comes in to play here...but in general all you need is 1-2...or maybe 3 pips of break for a decent entry. When I use POs (pending orders), I will normally set my entry for 2-3 pips away...but when I'm trigger happy (and hit the F9 to enter my trades...followed by a mouse click), I will take the initial break of the RC...at 1 pip or so. For longs when you set a PO to get you in the trade, you need to add the spread...for shorts, you don't need to worry about the spread as you pay it when you exit your trade.

I'm fairly new to this....I've been using the pivot before the entry and add the spread +3 pips. It has worked well.

I've been studying charts all day. The one thing I initially missed in the large amount of great info, that I'm pretty sure will help you a lot, is to pay attention to the break of the 5 ma channel....I use a 5ma low and 5 ma high. I'm still not sure that's the same channel they are talking about but it seems correct and works. It looks the same.

If you wait for the break over the trade side of the channel you'll do better and it will reduce your heartburn.

Pay attention to the 5ma channel with all the other info, especially the TDI!!!
