Whole bunch of new work has come up. Shoot I will even be working all weekend. Hopefuly I will get in a little chart time next week. It is great to have all the work, especially with so many who are unemployed. So I am not complaining.

I am sure looking forward to a block of time where I can have 100% focus on the charts for long stretches of time. I find that one of my bigest chalanges is that with limmited trading time I have a tendency to jump on mediocore setups. So to help me out with this I will be laying out some very specific set up rules to trade by.

Here is a question for those who may have an opinion on this.

If you had to pick 1 to three days a week to trade. What would they be?
In order of preference. I am thinking days where you see the most activity.

I need to lay out what days I will trade.

I'd say that depends on the criteria for your entries. I'f I had to pick 3 though it would be the days with the most economic releases.

The reason being this is when the big players are trying to align themselves based upon the results, though I dont trade during news realeases. I find this is when you see bigger and truer trends .

I have asked that question on here & received variable responses. Lots of people have said they skip Fridays.

Simple answer, though: Tuesday FO through Friday London close. A little more than 3 days but close enough.

If you could run your finish jobs on weekends you'd have it made in the shade. If you're anything like me, though - it's either feast or famine. In which case the move to trading the dailies, doing maybe 20 minutes of screen time a day...starts to look more attractive.

It is feast and famine. Right now it is major feastage. Trying to finish up two small ones in Gig Harbor and Purdy. Start another in Purdy and a large one in Shelton. Then two small remodles. August looks to be almost empty.....for now. All it takes is one phone call to change August though.

I will start looking with FO on tuesday evening and look for trading times from then till London Friday.

I am working toward working weekends. I am starting to dislike Monday and Tuesday for all the phone call interruptions. I would rather be sitting at my desk and trading while taking these calls. Also on the weekends no one comes by to bug me, can get a lot done. The one guy I still have working for me is into it as well. Right now far to busy to do that though.

I have been looking at trading the daily using the 4h as a trigger.

The news does get things cooking. Often times gets the trend rolling along again.

Well I was doing some thinking today while working.

It is impossible for me to do two jobs full time. Yet this is what I have been trying to do with Forex and running a business. They both suffer.

SO.

When the construction work is there for me. That will be my focus. With Forex durring this time I will work with daily and 4h charts. If I can get my entry nailed down with a 15m all the better. Another thing to be working on will be pending orders. I just need to be comfortable with it. Will be starting with 1/4 -1/2% of account for risk on the trade. The goal here will be to get in on long term trends.

When construction slows down for me, or I can get blocks of time off durring trading sessions. I will continue with the above but add in my intraday trading. 4h-1h-15m-5m charts.

I know I am not the first with this dilemma. So if there is any good ideas in relation to all this let me know.

I am waiting for a 61.8 fib retracement to the weekly pivot for my long entry.

Entry 1.4936

Stop 1.4849

Stop loss is placed under previous pivot low which also looks to be some strong support.

If this is not filled by tomorrow morning I will re-evaluate.


When I have more time I will lay out my entry criteria.

Another potential pending I am looking at.

If EU can retrace to the area I have highlited. It looks to have a lot of resistance to get threw.

My stop will als have a lot of protection.. Daily pivot, previous resistance, "00", and th high of yesterday.

Now the question is.... with all the lack of activity will it retrace?

Still dealing with a lot of work. So to distracted to focus on charts. I figured this evening would be better served looking at charts and enjoying a bit of scotch before going to bed early.

I think I will wait till next week before I jump in again. I will get some jobs out of the way, papper work done, and get passed NFP.

Working on my method for daily chart entries. I will be able to do this when I have so much work to do. I have come to the conclusion that trying to do two full time jobs (trimming houses and trading) both suffer.

If I can get a method figured out for Tokyo entries, and opening of US entries, then I can do trading part time when my other job is taking so much time.

By the end of July I think the work will be caught up and will be able to do more intraday trading.

Sometimes it is disapointing to be working so much that I am missing out on so many good moves. Working 7 days a week right now shooting to get caught up in 3 more weeks. Then take a breather. I am half tempted to hire on another worker....but that will just have to wait. There are a lot of construction companies around me doing the same thing, have lots of work but refusing to hire help. All are playing their cards close to their chests.

Papper work for me this evening. Look at charts a little. Next week I may start working off the daily for a bit.

Did catch a 60 pip move off the pound last night. I am doing what I can to keep my head in the charts.

I have been keeping a large chunk of my personal trading journal on papper. I would like to try my hand at doing it all on the computer. The bigest thing that slows me down is my typing skills.

Any recomendations of trading journal software?

Well I have spent a considerable amount of time looking online for some kind of journaling software. But to no avail.

I have come to the conclusion that I will be just as well served with a plain ol' word document. I will not be able to do curves or graphs of my account. BUT I will know if it is going up or down by reading the statement. I am no good at Excel. at least haven't taken the time to learn it, otherwise I could easily track things there.

But anyway, back to the plain ole journal. I will be able to paste screen shots to it. Write my comments. etc. It is also free.

So if any one has an idea of something that is easy to use that I can past tons of information to, that will work better, let me know.

Just returned from working on a remodle today. This can be some dirty nasty work, but it pays the bills and puts a bit of scotch on the table. Tonight it will be a spot of Aberlour.

You can open an a/c there with attachment to your current trading a/c. So the programme do all the analysis for you. I've not tried it though, but looks good from the other users. (I trust it is free too)
