How do I use a for loop to check whether a condition has occured?

How do I use a for loop to check whether a condition has occurred, such as when the price has moved across the 20MA?

I have managed to created a for loop that does this:

double Middle1 = iMA(NULL, 0, 20, 0, MODE_SMA, PRICE_CLOSE, Current + 1);

But it slows down the backtesting speed.

Is this the only way to code it, or is there a more efficient way?

Are you saying that you want to check every bar for this condition for every new tick. That is what the code as written will do. I am sure that you don't really want to do that. Exactly what is needed is another question that you need to explain clearly.

The loop is useless anyway - x is being incremented but is never used inside the loop.

You didn't explain very clearly what you want to do.

I am guessing that you want to check once per bar, not per tick. With iMA it is only necessary to check the most recent closed bar, not every bar on the chart. Therefore you don't even need a for loop.

This is how I do something like that.

if (barStart < Time[0]) //start of new bar

barStart = Time[0];

( Close[1] < MA && Close[2] > MA);
