Yeah I'm with you, if au moved up into 8677 and eu 1.2355 then I will probably short with you. I haven't been trading bc I like to trade the bigger swings but to do that I need a clear longer term direction, plus I banked 350 pips on Monday from longs I took on Friday so no need.

AU moving back to the green midpoints at 8568, this is not far away now and looking at the chart on the right 8672 seems to be providing resistance. If this is the case then price will move back to the blue midpoints, same move as S&P, which will put AU back into the green lows at 8445. Looking to take shorts today.

The upward retrace in EU should keep going until price hits the blue highs. That probably won't hit until next week or even the week after though. Once that happens I will short again for new lows.

Hey Amy,
You don't by chance have you trading system or indicators you could upload. I thing having those ranges would be convenient. Do you use MT4 or some other platform?

Its not MT4, I make my charts in a program called fibonacci trader. If you want to calculate the blue ranges they are the exact same calculations as I use for the weekly and monthly ranges but they are based on the past 3 weeks instead of one week.

I find 1 week ranges are good for giving a target for the week. While the 3 week ranges provide good swings within the bigger trend.

So to calculate the ranges

the blue midpoint is just a pivot point based on the last 3 weeks
then to calculate the highs take the range of the last 3 weeks multiply by 50% then add to the pivot point and you have the first high. Do the same again but multiply by 0.618 and you have the 2nd high.

This is the same as the chart of the S&P with the green highs and lows that I posted yesterday and today.

It can probably be coded to mt4 if you knew what you were doing I guess but I am not good at stuff like that.

No worries, I'm not good at coding either. Thanks for explaining. I found a similar system for MT4 that does it for monthly and weekly. Seems to work rather well. Thanks again though.

I haven't been trading them either, the last few days has just been consolidation, good for scalpers not for swing traders.
I am short the aud at the moment just taken off the push up half an hour ago, not high confidence but seeing if it can move down on Thursday and Friday before another move up next week.

EU retrace should continue up next week but all markets including indicies are due for a retrace I think.

What are you into?

Edit, closed that short, it moved back 30 pips and looks like its heading back up again.

got nothing right now, although im slightly bear biased on a/u like you said indices should be due for a retrace

movements aren't convincing either, yet
looks like the move down to the new low isn't going to happen at this retrace (off the rally), at least

Dow hit support on Thursday and bounced, this is shaping up for another up move on Friday towards the green highs. A bullish market will move past the green highs. I'm leaning towards this happening.

AU has been consolidating in 80 pip waves since Tuesday. Looks like today will move down another 80 pips into 8607. Looking to add to longs here on Friday if it moves down. This pattern should eventually break to the upside as long as price stays above 8585. This could happen today as there is another pattern which should see it up into 8703 on Friday.

The dollar should continue down today and the euro up into at least 1.2432.

Can I ask when you say green highs does it mean 10433 as shown for 17/6 or should be looking at 18/6 which will be 10432? (even though they are just 1 point away in this case)

And also, just wondering are your chart data updated daily when the bar crosses 00:00 to a different date?
I'm just curious because I noticed the time you tend to analyze your charts are around 8am Australia time (I'm from Aus).
Hope you understand what I meant.

I start the new day at midnight NY time, so 2pm Sydney time.

Hi AmyC, I really like your thread. I think this is a great idea, because as traders we usually are in the zone of the moment during the trade and documenting the thought process behind the entries and exits, would probably prove to be priceless. I also love to see how traders are staying on or off course with a trading goal. How are you coming with your 2.5% a week goal? Please post your stats when you get a chance. I feel many newbies would find this inspiring. Thanks Amy

Hi uncaged eagle

Thanks for the comments. I am well ahead on the 2.5% a week goal. The markets were very kind to me in May, one account is up 950% another is up 50% and the third is up 30%. I will start to post the weekly amounts starting from August. I am going to be away for a month from next week so I can start from afresh when I get back.
