FYI, a new update has been put through for Strategy Trader. The newest version is Build 220. If you don't have the newest version, please uninstall/reinstall. Programming documentation was added to the Strategy Editor, and we are in the process of commenting the code for strategies.

The charting is way more advanced in terms of chart options and indicators than what we currently have available. You can also create Kagi charts, Point and Figure charts, and Line Break charts.

Hi Stephanus,

It's open c# so anything that c# can program, you can do. I asked the programming services team specifically about the two scenarios you posed, and they said it is possible for both. The exact quote was "yeh off course, easy stevie, no issues".

I have to admit I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to programming and this level of detail . We're setting up a programming wiki (yet to be launched) that should help with general programming resources and the online support center manned by the programming team is just now being launched.

Hi everyone,

This isn't the first discussion about issues with MT4, it simply not the best or most reliable platform when it comes to execution. I recall reading in the THV thread (which is a scalping system) that some of those traders use MT4 only for charting and another platform for trading which I think is a decent option.

Jason, it's positive that FXCM are developing new and existing platforms, hopefully a browser based platform is underway too since many of your competitors already offer it.

Hi cfta,

A browser based platform is actually in development and currently going through beta testing. It's called Trading Station Gateway and is basically the Active Trader Platform without the market depth. This will make it the fastest platform we have available and ideal for Mac users and those with firewall restrictions. It doesn't get through ALL (corporate) firewalls, but does seem to help.

The interface looks nearly identical to FXTSII. The biggest difference you would notice is the charting. It's a couple of updates behind the FXTSII but we will be updating it. Overall, I think you'll find it is far superior to the java trading station we were offering.

If you want to beta test it, just send an email to [email protected] and I'll send over the demo registration link and platform link.

Look for full release of both Trading Station Gateway and Strategy Trader this summer.

Jason, since you seem to be the problem solver over there, can you get BTT to add all of the historical data for each timeframe to each of the currency pairs. Some have no historical data whatsoever. Some have just what is present since the beginning of the week. Some have only hourly and daily. It's a mess.The majors and most of the regularly traded pairs are OK. Pull up a 4 hour chart of the USDSEK and tell me what you see. Before the fx extension to the currency pairs it was there. It was a half ass job by BTT At best. I'd greatly appreciate whatever you can do. For a week, I've had no historical data on a lot of the pairs I trade and have had to go outside of my brokerage (FXCM) to do basic charting.

I've heard that ATC's own bridge between FXCM's raw feed and MetaTrader server is far better than Boston Technologies' bridge. Can anyone confirm?

I have no idea what you're trying to say. I've been on the MT4 brokerage side multiple times during my career. We've used a few bridge providers and all were sub par. But even sub par was better than what I'm seeing of BTT @ FXCM. The only solution was a custom solution and I believe that this is what they're trying to do with Strategy Trader. The only drawback with Strategy Trader for those of us who like MT4... is that it's not MT4.

I cannot personally confirm, but I've talked to traders who trade there and they like it.

WOW! What censorship! The title of my thread was edited although it met all the guidelines of forexfactory.com. I suppose FXCM is an advertiser here and the title wasn't complimentary. What crap!

Yes, and while it IS possible, it's just something they haven't or won't modify in their bridge software.

I can confirm based on our trader's VPS support tickets that ATC does not seem to have the problems frequently experienced by FXCM.

I would imagine that ATC is using another bridge solution if they are less problematic than FXCM.

Yes, that is old and common knowledge. They were previously bridged to Hotspot, until FXCM bought out Hotspot, but ATC kept their own bridge (which they had put a lot of work into developing). It would have been a waste to throw it out, especially if it indeed is better than Boston Technologies' bridge.

 I too, am experiencing problems with the MT4 FXCM combo - mostly with the consistency of the real time volume feed.

@profxtrader, seems you are knowledgeable on the technical side, and responsible for OPM, which viable alternative MT4 brokers are you looking at?
