Ok, here's what I got so far. It opens a pending order once a line has been crossed by "StopGapPoints". It then trails the price if it continues to move in the same direction. This means there will only be one pending order at the time (if I got it working as I intended). If that becomes active and if the price then turns again and passes the second level line by StopGapPoints then a 2nd level pending order is opened. The price of the 2nd level will be determined by the "MinimumReentryPoints" or by the sixth value, whichever is greater.
When...
So far I get "ERR_OBJECT_ALREADY_EXISTS4200Object exists already." On the 4H and 5M charts when backtesting. It will open one L1 trade and trail, but nothing else.
So, the Trailing is working beautifully! However, no other trades are opening.
HERE IS A DREAMLIST: (ONLY DO IT IF YOU FEEL LIKE IT)
- Visual on screen:
a. Distance of lines
b. TP Distance
c. Top to Bottom distance
- Changing stop gap to % of line distance instead of hard coded #. That way it is dynamic per the market conditions.
- Orders don't close until 'secureprofit'. If you enter L1, and L2 trails by quite a bit, you will never recover the trade. That could be by design, but I think an option of only close in profit or secure profit enabled will not close order until profit is secured of 'x' dollars/points etc..
- Email alerts as mentioned previously by reaching L3, L5, or recovery on?

I don't know how to backtest this EA while closing out orders? I would have to wait till market open on Sunday?
Unless you give me some pointers.

I'll have to look into this error. I don't get the error when testing myself. Do you have "drawlines" to true? Do you have the sixths indicator on there already? It could be that it tries to draw lines on the screen when they are already there. That would explain why it opens trades etc. The ea doesn't look at the lines so it shouldn't matter.
The visual on the screen stuff should be real easy to do, all the info is already there, it's just not displayed. Trailing stoploss by % I can do too. The other things I'll need to think about how...
I hope this answers some questions. It won't open up orders on multiple currencies it seems. Only on GBPUSD at the moment.
It isn't taking profit at the correct place and I am getting the errors you will see below.
I attached my set file above for what I have.
EDIT: Purple lines mark entry and supposed TP area.
EDIT 2: When I take off drawlines, then instead of error 4200, I get error 0.

Ok, it did end up TP on several last night. I am testing this on 4H and 5M, both on ECN IamFX 5 digit. I tried it on forex.com 4 digit as well and same.
So, it is only opening one order at a time, never two. It goes from ERROR 4200 to ERROR 0 when you change draw lines to false. So, I don't think that is 'good' or fixed.. haha
When I woke up there should have been several entries open, but then I noticed (I had draw lines to true) that the lines were where they were yesterday and not being updated.
So, I think it really comes down to the lines. You may want to grab the code from the Zurath version I posted a few back as it seems to have most of the functionality, minus the trailing/pending change and a few of the other enhancements you put in.The bright side is that I am up 150 pips even though it really hasn't been doing much. (maybe we should leave it alone...haha)

I will go back through your posts to figure this out, but does this filter entries, or is it off of just the lines by bar count that you put in?
Reason is, it opened up a .02 (L2) on USDCAD today!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!! So it seems to be working now, but there is so few opened orders I figured there is something wrong. Let me check... STill getting those errors though if I post the lines, etc..
EDIT: I HAVE VOL FILTER OFF BTW.
EDIT 2: It seems even w/ vol filter off, I believe that is the issue w/ not opening trades. Now it is doing it, it even went to 3 levls on gbpjpy and eurjpy on 5m chart. seems to be working, but not as active as it should be. Another thing I noticed is both those trades were slightly negative due to the trailing entries and pulling the TP's from profitability.

Performed pretty darn good, but still only 3 levels deep. Won't go any further.
Same error messages, nothing spectacular, but up 441 pips for two days! Not bad on a 5 minute chart w/ it not opening enough trades....
The trail is working perfect btw...

It opened a few L3 trades on 3 different currencies.
It then did a great job of taking profit, but it only closed L1, and L3 trades and left L2 trade to fend for its life all alone.

I may be posting this to myself, but here are my thoughts:
1. Setting up the EA so individual orders can be canceled is necessary.
a. If you are at level 1 and you want to close it, OK, however L2 trades you can't with most of the systems because it will close out your L1 trade right. Well, on my manual trading I have made most of my money with doing TStops (15 pips) at 2nd level, 3rd level etc.. I have found that it will stay at those levels many many times, so it is a great opportunity to cash in as it goes up and down and finally and hopefully up to recover my 1st level. With the current system you can't do it except MM's EA a few back which is good.
2. STOP GAP by % is necessary. Currencies are too different and changing all the time. The % is necessary over a hard number.
3. Trailing Stop gap is very good. While testing both 5M, 15M, and 4H, I have found that trailing it every so often is good and will save you 30-100 pips sometimes on your entries. I have discovered though that this option is better for shorter time frames and not as necessary in some markets. This is a tough decision to make, however, when comparing it to straight limit entries, then this is better. Sometimes it is better to just let it go without moving stop gap so it doesn't get filled...... But when.....
4. Hedging option is required. I believe that adding hedging like MM did also is good. The tough part is making it work. Just trading in reverse until you are out...
5. SecureProfit must work. Something in it saying you have met x dollars or pips and you are happy and must exit all trades of that currency. I don't think it currently works all the time (bug?). Also, if the stop gap is moving down, then obviously the TP has to be adjusted as well.
6. Alerts. Necessary! Traditional alerts would be awesome where it hits L2, L3 or whatever. Another alert I think would be useful on the trailing stop gap would be something that if the stop gap has been adjusted more than x pips than alert. "Sir, your stop gap has moved 200 pips!!!!"... I think that would get my attention.
Just dreams on the EA! AS far as perfecting it and making it a never lose EA... I believe this is just a money management technique with drawdown inevitable (which I want so I can make more $) and a 50% hit rate.

I'm still alive but buried in work at the moment. The % stopgap I can do easy. The secure profit bit I don't know how to do so I'll have to study one of the ea's that have this feature and see if I can borrow it...
For the hedging we may need some clearer rules to make the most of it. As it is, it is very crude and just opens when the line is crossed and then stays open with a trailing stop. On testing so far I make more money with the hedge then with the retrace, this has more to do with the current state of the market I think.

Yes, now doing the opposite of what I have been doing would have been extremely profitable.Just to let you know MM, my 5M and 15M testing is going quite well. I will try the trailing EA attached right now.

How many levels are you trading? Did you change any of the inputs? Thx. I am interested in adapting this system to a scalper to add to my arsenal as I have not found a reliable scalper yet.
It actually holds up pretty well, surprisingly. It had a big move a few days ago, big move today, but no margin call and still banking pips...
Drawdown is like 40% now, but if you managed it, it wouldn't be nearly so high. I have mine on set and forget.
