Hi Chris. I've been demo-trading for something like 1.5 years now and my P&L statement had been always full of "pink" colors (losses) and my balances always ended up lower then the opening balance (either $3000 or $5000).
This thread was probably the first thread I ever read about forex 1.5 years ago, but I didn't really comprehend its importance until now, after going thru and trading literally dozens of threads of "systems" and "strategies" and then losing thousands of play dollars in the process. (At least, it's just play money.
)
After I tried your approach last week, all my 5 entries are positive and had not had a losing one yet. I am afraid, though, that this might just be a fluke because I know the EUR is down.
Anyway, I will still continue with the Silent Service method for the next few months and I hope it continues to work for me.

Give yourself more credit than that. The EUR is down. Sell the weak currencies. You did exactly what you should do. This is no fluke.

I might suggest something......once you have a decent handle on a method that works for you, be it this one or another, open a live account with about 2-3 day's pay first. After that, work your way up in account balance over a few months so you get used to larger numbers.

So I'll post my reply here for brevity sake b/c you know what, it doesn't really matter; I say let the economy tank! To hell with the bailouts, hand-me-outs and Socialistic niceties. Throw'em out, lock'em up and stop treating us like Softies from Wendy's (<- Columbus, Ohio based fast food chain).
There's other asset classes to invest in besides paper assets (FX or equities markets) to protect our wealth. Of course I won't talk about them here! Meanwhile the liability about fighting with "facts" is that the facts can and do - change - given one's perspective in evolutionary terms. So there's not only facts but fiction here as well because neither of us have the full picture or grasp of what's goings-on.
That said, I overlooked a few technicalities, such as the one you pointed-out about FDR confiscating rather than buying the gold to monetize the debt in 1933. (He technically couldn't inflate away the debt when the Dollar was still a derivative of Gold.) Now if you read the fine print in the act it included gold purchases. So they bought it, too
When a country can't pay back its creditors, it's not a Sovereign Debt Crisis, it's a Default. And the U.S. simply cannot pay back $130+ Trillion on a timeline that matters. (The world is over $350 Trillion in debt and the world can't do it, either.)
You may see how foolish it starts to sound. Simply put, a nation's currency ruling the world is an untenable prospect, slated to fail. For it's bound by its very definition; so goes the nature of the beast.
All I have to say comes down to this, in one sentence I read, “If we can’t print money fast enough to fend off another deflationary Great Depression, then let’s change the value of the money.”

It's NFP Friday and the markets are going all over the place.
My advice: If you are not in the market......take the day off.
most proftable day by far, also as a side note that may explain the current volatility ..
because of the fat finger by that champion at citigroup every IB and fund who had a 'bot' in index futures etc has withdrawn it (probably cos they jsut got effed) and thus markets are moving crazy...
eg. S&P futures is usually 1000-3000 contracts every price, atm between 80-400
