The present price action was fairly predictable as I posted on April 29, 2010:

I now believe the present price reflects a hung parliament.

Also, I have now opened a new Forex account specifically for GBPJPY and it's volatility. Last week I didn't trade much due to family commitments and a short bout of back pain - Ouch! I'm also still experimenting which indicators are best for this wee beast.

Here is my latest analysis over the medium and longer term.

Yearly: There is no doubt Japan would like to see a 190 price. This is historically (in the 2000's) a good place for their exports to the UK. Price action like this doesn't take months, of course, but a gradual yearly build to 180/190 possibly by 2013. The fly on the ointment is the Euro and whether this will collapse - which I doubt.

Monthly: This is clearly bullish in nature. It's still fragile and could turn to more ranging, but I still think 155 is possible by the autumn.

Weekly: It's looking a bit bearish. All indications show there's a need for a drop before a good bull run. 2 recent historically similar indications have shown a 800 pip drop, which would leave us to 135.50 ish area, however, I'm not 100% convinced.

Daily: The chart shows confusion, it's on a pivot and could go either way. I'm laughing because almost everything is either middle or 50% or.... Looks like the big boys have got this down to the tee!

H4: Things are looking bearish. Aroon and SMA both show a possible drop. It still needs confirmation but it's got a foothold in the bears den.
