I have been saying for a long time backtests do not replicate reality. The backtest system is flawed. There have probably been many EAs written that would work in real time but sit in the garbage because of backtesting.

Turn off the TP and SL first and see what happens. Is the EA entering properly. If it is then add the TP and see where it puts the line. If it doesnt work you have a broker that doesnt take TP and SL at teh same time as the order. You will need to set up the MPTM to handle the exits and the SIXTHS EA to handle the entrances.

If this is true then this is crap.

It now looks like almost 30% of the Greek financing will come from the IMF, rather than just a small portion. And since 40% of the IMF is funded by US taxpayers, and that debt will be JUNIOR to current bond holders (if the rumors are true) I can't tell you how outraged that makes me. What that means is that US (and Canadian and British, etc.) tax payers will be giving money to Greece who will use a lot of it to roll over old bonds, letting European banks and funds reduce their exposure to Greece while tax-payers all over the world who fund the IMF assume that risk. And does anyone really think that Greece will pay that debt back? IMF debt should be senior and no bank should be allowed to roll over debt and reduce their exposure to Greek debt on the back of foreign tax-payers.
I don't think I signed on for that duty. Why should my tax money go to help European banks? This is just wrong on so many levels and there is nothing seemingly we can do. Oh, well. Thanks for listening.

Its a damn shame we dont really live in a "free market"..

Bad policy driven by the incompetant and greedy. The IMF is just one more arm of the beast..

I guess the reason that the US goes along with it is that it benefits from a strong Euro. If the Euro drops as it would if Greece goes bankrupt it would hurt US exports.

What amazes me is that most people in Greece don't seem to look further then their own back yard. I understand it sucks if you get a pay cut but one should realize that those nice benefits were paid for with money that was never there. They should be happy that so many countries (out of self interest) stepped in to help them out so they can maintain some level of prosperity.

Sorry to politicize here, but I agree with you all for different reasons. The US has had a policy of economic imperialism since the turn of the 20th century and the IMF is a direct extension of that policy. I know there are those out there who would have loved to see the IMF have even greater involvement in this deal.

On a related note, I'm not trading any EUR for a couple of days. My EA took out a trade on EUR/GBP that went $50 into DD in just a few minutes, so I decided to say "screw it," especially with rumors that Spain will be the next Greece.

Why not trade euro on a trend system until it shows a basing pattern and restart it on this range trading system?

it has definitely been a weird week, have a little bit of a DD right now but have enough equity to handle it, hopefully it straightens out soon. this whole European situation is a mess.

I'm actually loving this price action as it presents a fairly bad market for the EA. I'm looking at it as a good opportunity to see what happens then the market just wont stop trending. I'm 6 tiers deep on both the EURUSD and USDCHF right now, 5 tiers on the CHFJPY, 4 tiers on a bunch of different currencies.. using $2,378.66 in margin to sustain the trades.

This is pretty close to a "Worse Case Scenerio" and I'm glad it came when it did. I'm hoping this trending continues until it either blows my demo account or the EA proves it can survive it.

This is nowhere's near a worst case scenario, your just on a news story. These were only 3-350 pip moves and you are tapped out already. What are you going to do if the downtrend lasts all week or even goes into next week. I have survived 10 days of trending in the past and have the records to prove it. These go on a 10 day trend you are wiped out. Again you are sitting on 5th and 6th level trades and I am sitting on 2 or 3L trades and have room in case price keeps trending. You are wiped out if you dont get the retrace, me I am sitting on less than 15% of my account and have plenty of room to maneuver. I may have to take a L1 loss on the two usd trades but that is not an account killer or a margin killer either. Actually it is good for everyone to see this and what can happen if you play too tight.

If price goes to around -400 you close L1 and open a new 3L. Try to break even on the 3L and L1 is a loss. I have a plan for every trade whether it goes for good or goes bad. Stick to the plan and you will be profitable and you wont wipe out your account. It is fool's gold to think you will never have a losing trade ............ fool's gold.

Why do I trade a 4H chart. It is because it tells a story. Here is the story it is telling about the usd/chf. If you notice in the last 8 weeks. The usd/chf goes to its high or low aound wed or thurs and then retraces. It has done this 8 of the last 8 weeks. Now is it guaranteed to do that this week again? No, of course not but that is how I will play it. The odds are in my favor. One nice retrace and I end up with a profitable trade. And we all are happy. If not I have a back up plan. That is how I trade and try to teach. Look at this pic. the dotted lines divide the chart by weeks, the solid lines show the turnaround spot every week. I will play this consistancy. The 4H chart speaks and tells a story, learn to read the story it is telling you.

Since the Recovery System has defined rules, would it be difficult to code directly into the EA?

Missed all 5 trades in eurgbp due to Stop orders and I deleted them all and started afresh. And many more trades missed in other pairs. That is an added benefit of having Stop orders when market moves in one direction.
Now I need to find a method to delete all such orders automatically..

Hello Nanningbob,

first of all. Thank you for this awesom Thread and all the work you guys give away for free.
I follow the thread for 1 year and I think I understand the system.

I think, if we could ad a good divergenz indicator, like Trix (from THV-System) or DSS Or whatever you know could be a great improvement to the system.
The rule could be like this:

B-Line is crossed and divergenz has spezified value we enter. If the value is not in an overbought/oversold area we wait for the A-Line, but even there we don't enter before a spezified value is reached.

Shurely we miss some short spikes, but I think also we miss some Strong trends in the wrong direction.

I am really interrestet in your opinion.

It seems I was getting the recovery plan out too soon on earlier occasions, I should sit on the trades a bit longer to let them brew. Thanks for the advice!

On another note, has anyone ever tried to trade the opposite way? So trade in the same direction when the line is crossed? I think I'll have a go at that (on DEMO!), I'll let you know how that works...
