.....If the rumour of GS buying Sterling this morning were true, one of two things gunna happen:

 

  1. This retrace will be short lived and we'll test the weekly high today.
  2. There is a pump and dump going on with the first target at 142.7. (bearish divergence play-out area).

After the screwy nature of the moves so far today, I would not want to guess which....

100 DAILY SMA is below at 142.50

This could shape up to be a battle similar to those we saw last October (which involved the 50 and 100 SMA - as well as overhead 200 SMA) and January.

first of all, a litlle legend:

i take SMA 4, SMA 9 and SMA 18, Parabolic SAR 0.2, fractals and MACD 12,26,9

the theory says that if SMA 4 passes SMA 9, we have a buy/sell signal
more, if SMA 4 passes SMA 18 the signal it is confirmed and we have a sure transaction

i use parabolic SAR and fractals for exit point

let's take MONTHLY..
it can be seen that in june 2009 gy has a buy signal, it is where sma4 breaks from down to up sma9
but was not confirmed cause in november 2009 sma4 breakes from up to down sma9 and in this situation in november 2009 we have a CLEAR SELL SIGNAL at 149.20 area ( on monthly chart the unconfirmed buy signal )
so how much down could go GJ? we can see a fractal at 120 area
also it can be seen the parabolic SAR dot at 161.30 area ( there is where the down trend could inverse

IN THIS CASE, ON MONTHLY CHART WE ARE STILL IN THE OPENED POSITION @149.20 WITH SL 162 AND TP 120 for the next 6 months at least

IN THIS CASE, ON WEEKLY CHART WE ARE IN AN UNCONFIRMED OPENED POSITION @138.90 WITH SL 132.50 AND TP 151 and in the next 1-2 weeks will see confirmed to 151 or not

sma4 it is at 142.90 and looks like could breaks from up to down sma9 ( for this happen it is necessary today's close to be under 142.90 )

if we take this case, the fractal it is at 134.60 area and the SAR dot at 144.90

so IF TODAY'S CLOSE WILL BE UNDER 142.90, WILL HAVE AN UNCONFIRMED OPENED POSITION @142.90 WITH SL 144.90 AND TP 134.60
TO CONFIRM, SMA4 NEEDS TO GO UNDER SMA18 ( NOW AT 140.30 AREA )

ALSO, IT CAN BE SEEN A BEARISH DIVERGENCE ON DAILY CHART

IN THIS CASE, IF TODAY'S CLOSE UNDER 142.90, I TAKE AN UNCONMFIRMED POSITION @142.90 SL 144.90 TP 134.90 ( FOR THIS TP I CLOSELY WATCH IT AT 140.30 AREA TO CONFIRM

in the first 3 days of the next week we'll see or not the confirmation
