DislikedIf you need automation with IB BookTrader you could look into AmiBroker with IB feed.Ignored
DislikedWow it looks really interesting thanks a lot ! I'm not a programmer and I've struggled with FxSpyder to do things that AmiBroker seems to do naturally... haha I'm almost ashamed. Have you used it personally ?Ignored
DislikedIs one of my strategies, and I like to do it a lot, but not the main one.
My main strategy is synthetic hedging.Ignored
DislikedHaha I started trading using options, I lost many accounts that way and I'm kinda allergic today. How do that work out for you ? Is it more profitable than say, a carry trade ?Ignored
DislikedYou seem to contradict your first post here, where you complain about the lag in MT4 charts.
Oanda charts may be lacking some important features, but generally they are much faster than MT4.
Oanda charts are quite usable in calmer market situations.
They become unreliable during news and exceptional volatility.
At all other times (ie. ca. 95% of the time) they are much better for scalping than MT4 charts.
So it is a good idea to use Oanda charts for scalping, but you have to know exactly, in which situations you have to avoid it. If...Ignored
DislikedIf oanda were to pay the small cost of making their daafeed available in MT4, they would be doing themselves & customers (current & prospective) a big favour. Oanda would not even need to allow full trade placement or autoexecution from within MT4, just let customers be able to see/make use of the oanda datafeed within MT4.Ignored
DislikedThey will never do it : they would lose the $600 monthly fee they charge for their API.Ignored
DislikedI don't use MT4 (though I have tried and know it) and do not miss it at all.
Regarding speed; as long as one cannot drive the same feed through it one cannot really judge its speed.
As I told before, the lag mostly comes from the way of displaying (CPU and Memory intensive), ie. the way a charting software is written, and not from the feed itself.
This is the reason why there are so many sluggish charting packages out there, even if one pays for them.
If you want speed with a clean feed (proprietary, so cannot hook up with broker...Ignored
Disliked"Metatrader is the "universal" industry standard charting platform in forex. It is how it should be - free to use, user friendly, versatile & more than up to the job.
This is how it is - brokers like Oanda who do not sign up to Metatrader, & instead choose to offer false solutions such as subscription services through esignal & fxspyder, driven by their own greed, are the ones losing out."
Disagree here..... Its not free....just the charge being made to you is hidden in the spread
Its far from user friendly....Mt4 is mr clunky
Its not up to...Ignored
DislikedThe solution is: don't scalp.
But everyone thinks they can't outsmart and outquick the market until they finally realize ........... they can't.Ignored

DislikedI don't quite understand what this all has to do with scalping?
Maybe you want to say "do not scalp using lagging MT4 charts with Oanda execution", the thing that jimbil tries to do.
In this case I have to agree. There are much smarter options to do.Ignored
