yup , i dont want to believe they are playing around , but its been like this for sometime ,

anyway i found an alternate solution to this , m.fxtrade.com
its supposed to be the server for mobile platform , but u can open it thru http and u can close n open trades/orders from there with no problem when the main platform is problematic , i guess its a different server altogether...

by the way, news confirmed that there's very little buyers, even servigent angencies don't want to buy. so, my guess is-- brokers/market makers lost their balls and cut connection.

Hi pete, I feel your pain...I traded from 60 min and daily chart...counter trend work out just fine actually...

Unlikely that they cut connection due to liquidity problem, it works against them, even the worst bucket shop would not do that with new regulations. Those selective disconnections are thing of a pass, for a US broker that is. Besides, disconnecting their customers is a risky thing for them to do.

Its always good to have your broker's number on speed dial as well as a back up account to hedge if needed. Re-quotes, wide spreads and slippage are signs of thin market, not connection.

Anyway did oanda do any system upgrade or maintainence ? It happens everytime they upgrade, which feels more like downgrade. But they improved a lot since the last couple of years.

I don't think they are doing it to lock anybody out, I'd say they are having server overload issues, but they need to address it. I remember a while back similar issues, delays drops ect....., but everythings been fine until lately.

Fortunately today was a one way market, otherwise really scary.
By the way, Oanda doesn't accept phone call to excute trades. I got to know this rule last year from their live chat. Today, a friend of mine called their office to excute trades, they didn't answer the call.

From the timing it lost connection, --lost upon big drop and recover when retrace, I got the impression that Oanda lost liquidity provider, without the ability to hedge, they dare not trade against clients, so they block the connection. When the impulse finished, they switch on again, to bully the exiting positions.

I hope my thoughts is wrong, after all, we don't have much choice till one day the retail Forex become matured and well regulated.

we could only assume cause we have no fact regarding that matter..we just assume the server overload..or we just assume that they block the connection to save their position against the client. Whichever the truth is, they should enhance their services to the client.

I agree, server overload is a known issue and the problem seems to be creeping back, however compared to about 4 years ago, now I just need to log in again and I am up where in the pass it wasn't possible.

Its a shame they don't do that (execute trade) via telephone, I have called in to close positions before though, the call was picked up promptly. I guess we just have to learn how to manage the pros and cons of different brokers.

they basically agreed that possible aid for Greece would come jointly from the EU and from the IMF. It will, however, be strictly piloted by the EU. It only came after a meeting between Merkel and Sarkozy just before the official summit. There should be a long press conference after the end of the summit today which will bring additional details to the matter.
