I am currently in the process of reviewing various EMAs using MT4 and looking to build strategies based on manual backtesting. I just realized, however, the data for my demo account only goes back 1 month in the 30M chart, 3 weeks in the 15M chart, 2 weeks in the 5M chart, and 2 weeks in the 1M chart. The daily chart and weekly chart has at least two years worth of data. I am working off the daily chart and was planning on using the the lower-level charts to determine entry points and confirm S/R levels but I am at a standstill now with the lack of data. The Alpari site from other threads is down and that site was supposed to have historical 1 minute data. For people for backtest, how do you go about this if you want to use lower-level charts for confirmation and picking entries/exits? I am concerned at how I am going to backtest for the rest of my forex career if I can't get historical data. Do people actually pay for the datasets so they can backtest?
