Shanghai offers traders the chance to trade the London open and NY open, without loosing a blink of sleep. In fact, you can sleep till 11am every morning if you'd like and still be up in time to relax, catch up on fundamentals and go for a jog, before london opened.

If you've got kids to worry about, there are several top notch international schools in the Pudong area. Housing is relatively cheap and costs of living are low..

Downside... the Chinese boarder on unbearable.

You're right, but I want to be more clear (to let all understand how it works):

The right info about tax laws are very difficult to find on internet.
I'm sure of what I'm about to say here because I found true info by asking to law experts, traders and financial experts... surely I made a lot a complete research to confirm it:

In italy forex trading is absolutely not taxed, BUT

you will pay 12,5% tax if you hold a trade of more of 51645,69 euros for more than 6 days.

just some random examples:
- if you open a 100 lot trade on eur/usd (about 10 million) and you hold it for a period less than 6 days, you will not pay taxes.
- if you open a 0.3 lot trade on eur/usd (about 30000 euro) and you hold it for 6 or more days, you will not pay taxes.
- If you open a 100 lot trade on eur/usd (about 10 million) and you hold that trade for 6 days or more, you will pay taxes.

Think about it.... most of us will never hold a trade for more than 1-3 days...

I am an agressive scalper... I open and close my trades in just some minute maximum... but I usually need only few seconds...

so... NO TAXES AT ALL!


For those who are interested... In my opinion Italian towns are not so beautiful, I live in Bologna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bologna) but I hope someday I will move to another place to live in. Life too much expensive, cold winters and few entertain... Sydney or Buenos Aires will be good options for me: warm winters, life less expensive and more things to do...
Anyway if you are looking for one of the best city to live in in Italy, Bologna is what you need.

Milan and Rome are the greater and the major towns here in italy. I suggest you to check also for it... and if you prefer warm winters you can looks for major sicily's towns... Catania or Palermo

Yes... I'm sure...

Anyway I think it's not a wrong choise to apply no taxations to "intraday" forex trading... Because it can be a very very risky business (depends on your trading approach) and because successful traders brings a lot of non-direct tax income... do you know what i mean?

yeah thats true. During a 2-week highschool trip through france and italy we stopped in Monaco. While there we took a tour of a perfume factory and our tourguide was very suprised to learn that none of us had ridden in a ferarri. She then precedded to tell us that very soon we'd all be taking trips into space on little spaceships. I'm guessing she was talking about the Richard Branson's newest toys, but I think she forget that $200,000 for a 2 hour pleasure trip is a little out of reach for 99.99% of humanity.

My vote is for the philipines or singapore.

Right now, after the 8.8 earthquake, I bet it's hard to get an internet connection. Maybe on a Satelite phone.

But since you mentioned Chile, I've recently moved to Bahia Blanca, Argentina(same state or Province as Buenos Aires). Our time is the same time as Santiago, Chile. We are 2 hours ahead of New York time and 3 hours behind London time. That means if you want to be ready at the London open, you have to be up by 5am, which isn't too bad. If you trade until the close of the London, you can quite at 1pm.

I think Chile(until just recently) and Argentina have a 2nd and 1st world class living. You can live where it's very Hot(Chaco, Northern Argentina) all the way down to where it starts getting very cold(Pantagonia).
Unless you get a permanent visa through retirement or a business, you have to leave the country every 3 months(overnight), and then come back.

I think they tick all boxes BUT option 3, they also have low population densities.

I left the USA 2.5 years ago and now trade from Panama. I'm a swing trader though and don't stay up all night, so that may be a key factor depending on your trading style. I'll have to admit though. Trading from an island in a tax haven isn't half bad.

For day traders, who are trading full time and professionally, time zone is important. In your normal awake hours, it's better that you can watch the market during at least 2 out of the following 3 periods.

- European market hours
- US market hours
- Asian market hours

I used to live in west coast of North America, but this time zone is terrible for a full time day trader. US market opens in very early morning, and European market opens close to mid night. So pacific time zone is the last one I would pick, despite there're many nice cities to live along that side.

They recently had an economic collapse and their money went way down.

Been to Iceland in January. Not good! im sure the summer is beautiful there, but cost of living very high and traders make the same no matter where you live

I think Qatar is a best place in a world for trading and living.
Its a very small country with very small population

crime rate is very very low also its safe for Americans and you will find number of foreigners there with high internet speed and its a very developed country
The only thing i hate very much is its hot weather and its impossible to live without air conditions in summer season. Temperature more than 50 digree sometimes with no scenery and even with no natural scenes. Infact its a desert area and you can go with your family there on weekends for fun
But cost of living is low there with lot of free services specially medical facilites which is free for everyone there... Good cheap American schools their for kids also.
I love this country but hate its deadly hot weather with no sceneries but its sea is very beautiful with deep blue water ...

here in Asia (the Philippines), we can watch all those 3 u mentioned above (if u want to).
Europe session is 2-3pm here, so u can wake up after lunch.
how cool is that
u can end your day around 8 - 11pm (around 8-11am New York time).
no need to wake up early or miss active sessions. u wont mess up with or need to change your body clock/sleep pattern (health-wise, this is a VERY important issue)
if u have no trades, go to the beach or something. most of the things here are relatively dirt cheap (by US/European standards).
