The EU today voted to reject a deal allowing US terrorism investigators access to international bank transfer information. The bank deal would have given the US access to all European bank transfers. Europe, sees a victory for data protection. American officials are calling this vote a "setback for US-EU counter-terror cooperation".

Goldman Sachs tricky derivatives trades may have masked the Greek debt just long enough to hurt all of us again. Goldman Sachs made up an exchange rate that allowed the Greeks to look as though they were only engaging in a currency swap when, in effect, they were getting more than a billion more than they should have from the trades in credit. Its likely that Goldman made a killing on the commissions for the swaps, and then sold the swaps to a Greek bank for even higher profits.

Great Britain says that a global bank tax is around the corner, Prime Minister Gordan Brown says that top economies are close to reaching a tax on banks. In principle countries could agree to the tax this summer at a conference in Canada, however it will take years before it actually made an impact. The Obama administration disagrees with Prime Minister Browns plan and in order for this to work there must be global cooperation.

Obama said he doesn't begrudge the multi-million dollar bonuses collected by bank CEOs. Meanwhile outrage over banking has prompted G20 leaders to come close to agreeing on a global bank tax. Three-quarters of US voters are angry at the federal government's policies for banks, according to a new Rasmussen Reports survey. Where will this all lead?

Vice President Joe Biden has suggested that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg of inflating the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. A large part of New Yorkers do not want the trial to take place in the city, Vice President Biden says that is why Mayor Bloomberg has inflated the cost to get the trial moved. Congress supports having the trial in a military tribunal and would not be willing to fund a trial outside any other setting.

Maybe bit off topic, call it a stretch for an agricultural commodities play.
I hope every has a chance to find a way watch this movie. It is real eye opener and here is the 3 minute intro.

This is not one of those anti-meat movies, it is a look into the entire food chain from seed to supermarket. I also had no idea people (In America) can be sued by Big Farma for saying something negative about their products. I was shocked.
