Yet another MetaTrader Alert Problem!

Has anyone experienced this. I had my alerts working perfeclty using my Comcast provider when I was with FXDD. I switched brokers to MBT and rebuilt my machine with windows 7 now I can send test messages fine but I am not getting alerts from indicators or manual alert entries created under the alerts tab. It says message sent but I never receive it on my phone email address. Specifically I am using the MACD 4 hour indicator but I don't think it makes a difference since the manual alert doesn't work either. I am not sure what to check since the test message works. Any Ideas???

Can you post that specific indicator so that we can have a look at it.
( i am using indicators with alerts with MB Trading without any problem)

I was using Yahoo premium as my server and they went down for @ 12 hours. Might be the case with comcast?

Here is the indicator. It doesn't work with other indicators either so that's why I don't think it's the indicator. I was thinking it had something to do with my machine or MT4, or windows 7, Comcast? I have been trying to figure it out for a month now. If I send a test message I get it almost immediately.

I don't think that is the case since I have been trying to get it working for about a month now.

I can not see the code in your indicator to send out emails "SendMail();" or to give alerts "Alert();", I only see the code "Print".

SendMail is what you have to include I guess.
For example:
SendMail("type here the message for the email", Symbol());

Hmm, I wonder why. I just downloaded it fine.

Just an update: Apparently a port is not needed in the email setup in order for test messages to work but it is needed for alerts to work. I decided to add port 587 to the settings, "smtp.comcast.net:587" and now manual alerts work fine and test messages work fine but not the indicator alerts . It still says message sent from the indicators but nothing shows up. Atleast I'm getting closer.

You using windows vista/7 ? So you have the look at the side of the firewall since these version are very strict in the use of socket/port

I am using windows 7. All my problems started when I built the machine with windows 7 with a fresh install. I was playing around with the firewall last night but I couldn't find where it was allowing ports. I will have to dig into it deeper.

Good luck. Let us know if you are able to fix it an how in win 7 since many of us might be running windouws 7 in the coming months.

Topgun- I tracked this thread down trying to solve my problem:

1. I can send test emails. My configuration is good.
2. I cannot get alerts to email when triggered. I'm not using any indicator, just a simple alert.
3. The journal shows that the email is sent, but it never shows up.

I'm hoping you have solved this problem and the fix will work for me as well.

I haven't figured it out yet . I changed the port to 587 in the email setup in control panel, and in the email setup of MT4 and then the test messages and manual alerts worked fine. But alerts for my indicators are still not working. It is really hit / miss. It is driving me nuts because I had everything working flawlessly when I was using Windows XP Pro but now Windows 7 Ultimate is not working. I will post something when/if I figure it out and I hope you do the same.

Did you check your spam folder. My Yahoo mail randomly starts putting these alerts in my spam folder when I least expect it.
