Happy New Year guys. I will not be trading the first week of the year because of the unusual way the markets will move the first couple of trading days. If you want to use any of my systems or philosophies they could get clobbered the first couple of days. It is however a good time to follow some kind of MA cross. As traders reenter the market after shutting down for the holidays they tend to follow the direction the market is going so there are usually some strong runs. So I would recommend jumping on board the trend followers and then go back to range trading after the 11th or later, at least wait until you see the market settle back into its usual routine.

Hi all,

As I've promised, I post the BBFlex EA December results.
I've found and fixed few bugs in the code,-the updated code is attached.
Therefore, the results aren't as they would be if those bugs were not there.
But, it is possible to say, that the price does not necessary bound off of the band.
I also will be glad if traders, reading the thread will find settings,
whose profitability will be confirmed by strategy tester.
I use 600 PIP SL, 100 PIP TP, no TL.
It seems to me that each pair should have different settings.
I'll open new demo account in order to allow give the EA 'fresh' start.

I took a couple of ur range trading systems from 2700 down to around 700 in the last few weeks. This would have been a great time to go with the trends. I feel the same as you about a simple ma would do great in December ......Dan.......... HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Yes we had some very unusual long trends this month but we closed out early so that didnt happen to me. The market does this mid December, happened last year but not as bad as this year but I should have put more warnings out. Sorry about that.

Hi all

Just a quick one. Has anyone suffered dramatically from the 100:1 margin rules. Ive Been running demos over the festive period with all of the settings "same as it ever was" and havn't really pushed the limits

I havent been pushed to the limit of my account but I reduced my lot size and increased my account. So far so good. It looks like if you have the EA off during a limit hit, it will close your biggest loser. If you have the EA on, the EA will close all positions. If you have the EA off then it kind of does you a favor and forces you into the 2.4.2 recovery system. Also, if you are being closed without getting to the 2.4.2 recovery system then you know your lot size is too big or you are trading too many pairs. Just some thoughts.

Hi Bob

Since the lower leverage has caused problems have you found alternatives. Have you heard or considered Jacko`s "alterntive hedge" system? It seems quite impressive the thread is http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...62&postcount=5

He stops at stop loss, waits for extra movement of another 50 to 100 pips and then he puts a pending order at the exact place the stop loss had been. If you have time have a look and let us have your thoughts about it.

As far as Jacko goes he is a good trader but a totally different system. I loved hedging a trade that went against me and then unhedging it when I finally say a trade I liked in that pair again. It is like freezing time and waiting for the cards to be on your side again. Stupid NFA.

His idea is an excellent one but I have no idea how to put that successfully into a multi level system. For standard trading it is a good read and thought. Probably placing pending orders is a better idea with this system. Those that are developing that system are really onto something good. They are still working on the bugs and I truly hope they succeed.

Stop losses are what they are stop losses, means you lose money. Dont do them anymore. I use retraces to 0 out my losses so I keep my profits. I will never go back to a SL system in a multi level trading system. Simply the loses are too big. We multi level trade to get out of using SL, no stop hunting by brokers and any of their other games. You play a range to get the price entrance you want and then make profit. I have consistantly last year hit over a 70% win ratio and only a couple of times a month do I take a loss(some place between level 3 and 4 but only 1 level and then go for the retrace again). December was an exception, I traded three more days than I should have . I could have stopped, closed out my account, grabbed my 1300 profit for the month and been done. Instead I traded 3 more days and got caught in a whirlwind. I had never seen 3-4 week trends with no retracements before by such a large group of currencies. Even with one or two doing bad I usually make up the losses on one with the wins on others but the trading market dried up for about 3-4 weeks. The record I had seen before this was 10 days. Just got caught in a freak move of the market. Probably not see something like that again for months or even years. Jacko's system is excellent but I dont see how it would be practical in a multi-level system. Great method though, especially if you used it with S/R levels. If it hits a S/R level put your stop on the other side and then a pending order if price ever comes back through, kind of like make up your SL at a later date. Thanks for sharing.

Re-entries at 15-20 pips, widening it to 25 if the movement is sharp and fast. No fixed number since i am doing manually. Widening it saved me from blowing account unnecessarily in very adverse situations, esp in Dec. (should have listen to Bob and gone for vacation).

TP at the MA (white line). If move sharply will let it run to the other bollinger line before TP. If recovering from 4 levels will TP at breakeven or minimum losses. I have my first losing days in late Dec no thanks to the E/U and U/C.

You can restart it now, this is the problem I face. I need either to greatly increase my money in my account or change to an overseas broker that offers 400:1 leverage. Or trade with a limited amount of pairs. I have not decided which way to go. It has nothing to do with my confidence in the EA, it has to do with the amount of funds I wish to risk. In the name of protecting us the NFA is forcing me to use more money to trade and that is forcing me to risk more money not less. Stupid logic on their part. Any way I am in finals week here at the University and will put this decision on hold until later in the month. Meanwhile I still use my Nanningbob 4H system, I decided to increase my funds in that account. My other live account is penny trading a follow the trend EA I am trying to develop. I am thinking of FXSOL MT4 account in Australia but IBFX is opening an office in England so I am really waiting to finish deciding between them. However, this does not affect anyone using the 180x100 it still is a valid working EA if you properly fund it. I still prefer it over the 60x60 I tried for a couple of weeks.

I'm relatively new to FF and I'm glad I found your threads. Really good quality you're offering here!

I'm currently demo testing the 1H BB EA with 200 pip levels and 200 pip TP.

I like all the different EA's that are offered in this thread. I'm looking at a system that can be used on all pairs (at least those with kind of normal spreads) and in that way spread the risk.

What I like about this EA compared to the other EA's is that it uses BBands for entry points and the 200 pip spacing allows for big enough trading ranges if a pair should encounter a "perfect storm" as you called it.

I left the TP at 200 since it allows for large enough profits to compensate for pairs that are in DD.

Will see how this performs. Luckily I am with Alpari Uk and they offer good spreads and 500:1 leverage so margin shouldn't be a problem trading 0.01 standars lots.
Demo account however is limited to 100:1 leverage.

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to see the results on my Demo account.

I hope you are successful and good luck. My personal view is govt. doesnt want forex prices jumping all over the place this year they want price stability for the recovery, so it will be perfect for my system. Thanks for your comments.

I need a programmer to program an improvement for my system. I believe I have come up with a way for every level to adjust to each currency pair traded but I am not a good enough programmer to do this. I believe the idea I have come up with will work better than the BB system and will also incorporate the pending order system used by some. It combines ideas of all my systems in this thread and my 4H trading system in to one EA I hope can be run with very little oversight. I have some of the coding ideas but I cant make them work at this time. The EA will automatically adjust levels according the currency pair and its movements over a period of time. It will be self adjusting not fixed like the ones we have now. Is there an experienced coder who also has a basic understanding of forex to help me. You will also need a SKYPE account so we can talk.
