Best to not say much. Like this one time when I was at the gym trying to relax - I was just reading this magazine on poker, and some guy started asking me about it. Well I got to telling him that I trade and he became a total a**hole and started trying to pry information out of me. So I left and now I just ignore him when I go to the gym.

Opinions are like assholes... everybody's got one. Do yourself a favor, and try to divert any future trading discussions. A reply along the lines of "I dabble in some investing here and there", usually turns most people off to further dialog.

The general rule of thumb is NOT to discuss trading with anyone other than those with similar interests. It can prove to be psychologically damaging, and can also damage your equity curve.

I find that when i talk to investment guys about how i trade they nod and say thats a good idea... only one that acted like I was wrong was a broker and i smirked like he knew what he was talking about cause he was a broker with a degree in history....

gonna convince um so just take their responses as uneducated and seek traders to talk with. It is important to have support from those who really know the business. It is a Business and can be run wisely. Study and trade wisely and your Ferrari is Possible...

Dont worry about what other people say. It's a mystery to me why most people shoot down the guy who is trying to take his/her financial future further than just a paycheck. Just keep going on and improve your trading, You can be sure that the day your making some big profits the same people will come to you for advice on how to make some real money.

If you are a profitable trader then more than 50% of the people on FF are impossible to talk to, anyway. I mean there are so many ways to kill a cat the only thing most of us have in common is a hard psychological attitude and f*****g good money management.

Then I showed a set up to a relative and she got all excited and wanted to put a month's salary on it. It was a bit like what you hear in a casino or the horse track. "I've got a feeling about this... blah blah crystals horoscope... ".

So I set up a 5,000 demo account for her and suddenly interest in it dwindled to zero. I think she thinks she may have to fork out the 5,000. I just hope, if that's the case, she doesn't notice it now stands at 5,800 after 6 weeks. Yes, I was surprised too.

yeah, i know this kind of person ... the one who gets overexcited once you told him/her, the next they after they played half an hour with demo, they tell you it's not for them. the girls even want you to set up an account for them, download and install it, then you are supposed to teach em, but you are employed to keep it short and simple, you hear: aaand what do i do now? ... aaand i click here, right? ... but how can i buy 100K if i only have 10K?
...
suddenly they dismiss it because they "remember" it's gambling. or you do after they didn't get leverage after you explained it 10 times in 10 different ways.

Yeah,people got to have a real interest in this kind of stuff otherwise its just throwing away valuble time.A few of my frends asked me to tell them and teach them but they expect everything on a plate,handed to them. I never did that because I worked so hard for this and people need to prove them selves worthy. I just opened a demo for them,and gave them the best material to study which is very generous by itself becuse It is already selectionized. Nobody tried more than a few weeks,nobody read everything I gave them,nobody implement if I gave basic pointers,they all wanted the secret to make money with trading,which is offcourse a delusion.
If people ask me in the future I will continue to have the same approach,if someone wants it bad enough he/she will try hard and if I see some effort from the start and a real interest and desire,then I'll help furthere.
Thats my way anyway.
