need help about back testing

i keep hearing from people i am back testing this method etc . can somebody tell me how you do that cause i am trying to do it on my demo and cant . do i need a special software for back testing if yes can you recoment me one.

Hey JK, try searching for FOREX STRATEGY BUILDER on Google. It's a very basic backtesting tool for somone who doesnt know how to write backtesting codes... (e.g. ME)

or do it manually by pushing the PgUp button till the end of your data, then start pushing F12 one at a time.

Entry when your strategy tells you to enter, and exit when your strategy says so. Don't forget to note every transaction. Then check out the result month by month or year by year, whichever suit you.

Is it a manual or automated strategy?

If its manual they are probably just scrolling back through old data and checking trades by hand.

If its automated they are probably using the stategy tester thats built into MT4.
