Here is my New Year's gift to you.

There is one major improvement with this EA over previous generations of generic breakouts: optimization. Time is now something which can be optimized--a feature not possible with string-based time in previous versions.

EDIT: Ok, I'm here to annoy you. I know this is a present for the FF community and you're not supposed to complain about free things

1) What's the difference between UseTradingTimes and Breakout Times? I'm guessing UseTT determines whether a breakout time is used?
2) The info display appears and disappears with every tick (not really a problem)
3) The EA seems to be having trouble creating the box...see screenshots

Actually I was being stupid.

If you just turn UseTT on and set it to OUTSIDE your box range the EA works fine. The only problem then is the box not being drawn properly.

  1. Trading Times determines when the EA takes a trade. For example: you set the breakout range somewhere at the beginning of the of london open, BUT, you don't want the EA to place a trade until the australian open. The assumption being--if the price stays in/reenters the range, there will be a big breakout.
  2. It's always redrawing itself...

In the backtests I noticed that the when using 11 - 13 GMT, the middle bar never has the problem, it's always either the first or last

i would like to ask the following..
is there any breakout ea that calculates high low based on the set number of previous candles? for example, lets say that we open a chart and see a triangle and we want to trade it, not based on time box, but based on high-low of (lets say) 6 last candles? is there a breakout ea to do that??

Hi Ron,

I noticed that the box range is determined depending on a current TF which I think is incorrect in certain cases.
Eg: A box drawn on M1 candles will usually look different than the one drawn on M15 candles.
Take a look at the pics. Both are in the same time range (30mins), but yellow top/bottom levels differ.

It'd be awesome if you can modify it to using the same TF when determining the box size (I guess M1 would be the closest one to the true size), no matter what TF you currently use on chart.

No attempt at all. If you look at my attached, the errors are shown in the Expert tab. The price clearly broke the upper range but no trade was triggered.

that would really help. right now understanding some of these parameters is difficult for most of us. we never know ea is not runing because we gave wrong values or there is a bug in the code

I think it work well on London session with EU and GU pairs
