DislikedJosh, I read sometime ago that you did backtests and you were successful with 2R ratio. Could you tell me please did you use original Jankone rules or you traded just what looked good to you (meaning others candles formation, not only Pin bars).
I am asking this because, I am doing manual backtests for last 3 weeks and so far 2R gives me only break even results. It looks like 1R actually more profitable.Ignored
3 weeks is not even close to enough data to make a decision. I'd start with a few years of 5min data. Also, I don't use backtesting to make a decision on exit strategy. Rather, I use backtesting to gain confidence in the trade strategy I plan to use. It is a way to train my eye on what to be looking for. I use forward testing only when it comes to evaluating exit strategies. So for each trade I take, I fill out a spreadsheet that has several different exit strategies... I fill in how each trade would have worked for each strategy.
If it helps, I've had about breakeven results for the past few weeks, though most of that was because of a slip up in discipline recently. The pickier we are on taking our trades, the better we will be...
Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas.
