Gain is live real time data and you can get live real time futures data through Mirus (Zenfire)..it is identical to what you would use to trade. There was a one month time limit on the free futures feed when I did that. The NT support forum is very good for questions about this stuff.

so in other words you simulate in the truest sense of the word..because it replicates live trading. You can record and replay the market if you want to.

Do you think it's a decent forex simulator? I've been looking for a one to test my strategy, especially during weekends.
personally I think NT is best for forward testing not back testing as there is often limited historical data available. I have heard that 'forex tester' is good for back testing forex strategies with the MT4 platform. I dont know much about it but you could search the J16 or other FF forums (or google it) It is bound to show up. I would also say that NT is good for low timeframe trading but has little advantage over MT4 for higher timeframes...but this is just my opionion of course

I have a question if anyone of the posters is reading.I've download the Ninjartader and install it as the instructions with Gain feed throught Ninja servers.So i get real time/tick data on demo right? This one will last forever?
The question is for how long cause i did it once before before but throught Gain demo and was for only 1 month.

Ninja occasionally resets the demo balance but the data lasts forever. It's not a Gain demo, it's a Ninja demo with Gain data.

Nothing. NinjaTrader usually preferred by traders that have been with them for a while. It's just a personal preference.

The same preference as why some traders swear by eSignal, others by ProRealTime, others MetaStock ... Tradestation, etc ...
NT - x-tick and x-seconds charts, with proper grid lines and y-axis scaling, try that with MT4. Also, free.
it seems a lot of people like Ninjatrader, I think I will try it for scalping, is it free to use for live trading? or does it only work for demo?

Free for demo only (limited time). Live trading with Ninja is payable.
I've had a pfg best demo for several months. Got it as part of a deal demo'ing a very expensive indicator, so not sure if that gave me special privs. worth a try

As for NinjaTrader 7, there's no more free demo FX datafeed.

Has anyone noticed this problem in Ninja Trader where they would display completely wrong candlestick data that are totally different from your own broker's charts as well as other broker's charts? But when you disconnect and reconnect, Ninja Trader will correct itself and display the correct candlestick data.

It's been happening very often lately. Before when it happens I always thought it was a temporary glitch but now it seems to be happening almost daily. I have emailed tech. support at Ninja Trader and sent them all the screenshots and log files and trace files but they still haven't got back to me yet.

Interactive Broker but I checked the chart directly from Interactive Broker FXTrader and everything is correct on IB. Only Ninja Trader is off.

It's very hard to catch it if you are not looking for it or don't have an active strategy based on it. Like I said, once you disconnect and reconnect to Ninja Trader, the candles are corrected.

Luckily only a couple of time I have had miss timed candles and gaps where I know there should be data, CTRL+SHIFT+R keys will reload the data just like a reconnection does. I use zenfire feed, it doesn't happen enough to annoy me luckily. I watch metatrader too so live it's noticeable if it goes out of sync but like you say back checking/testing it can catch you out. I think ninja is just sloppy written as it has always had glitches in all the years I've tried it, but it's free so I put up with it.

Sometimes when I start NT my charts looks a little strange but right click and reload historical data usually does it for me. It is the same thing no matter which feed I use (PFG, TT or kinetick). I have never any experienced any problems once NT was up and running.

I am glad to find out I am not the only one. I suspect it's Ninja Trader's server that's slow in either downloading the data from the host broker or broadcasting it. It's happened in other brokers' software as well but it's never as often as in Ninja Trader.

Now it's happening everyday. Thanks for the trick in getting right data. Unfortunately that's not going to help me much. I have active strategies running that give me trading signals based on price data. Once the price data is off, I can't trust the signals anymore. I have actually lost so much money because my trading signals given were based on wrong candles. That's how I found out this problem.

I reported this problem to Ninja Trader support, it's been three days and so far no response. If they can't fix it. I am not going to use it. Not point using something that's going to lose me pips even if it's free.
