So, what happens if I attach an EA to a chart and then I change the period of that chart while EA running? Does it affect the calculations?

MT4 will call deinit() and then init() again, variables will keep their values. You can use UninitializeReason() in deinit() and init() to find out whether it was a switch of timeframes or something else and act accordingly.
