Price eventually went through 0.9150 where I was hoping to get into a buy, so far it has retraced to the 50% level, I have a trendline further down and will be looking for it to hit that before considering trading this pair. Area of interest is the 61.8% level where the lower trendline is sitting along with 0.8850 round number, if it reaches this area I'll be interested.

Sold usd/chf @1.0200 should maybe of sold as it came back through the 1.0250 never mind.

gbpchf stopped out at b/e. and then it rises , typical. in any case, we live to fight another day with no capital lost.

Nice thread. This is almost identical to the way I have been trading sucessfully for the last 3 years, but I day trdae of the 15m chart.

Hi Brixton,

Curious you mention that youve been applying the same method on smaller TF´s.

I was thinking if it was possible and ive been "dabbling" trying to figure something out. Basically changing the Stop size and the entry margin, being Dans method on a 50pip margin.

Any way you could share what you change for the smaller TF´s if ok?

hey man, check out brv's pdf the scalping method is very similar to this, learn a few candle stick patterns aswell you gotta great method.
When i scalp the 15m i trade pinbars next to s&r lines/round no's. I set the sl to be+1 as soon as possible and try get about 10-20pips a day.

yeah buddy, no brainer trades

I have been playing with jpy and aud crossed currencies, just cause i mainly watch the sydney/tokyo session. i have tried a fixed 10p stop but i wasnt happy with the risk v reward, so i tried placing my sl at the bottom of the pin bar low(5-10p). Seems to work well, just remmember to move sl to be+1 as soon as in profit.
I have not tried having my sl behind s&r lines, i dont have experience on shorter tf's and im not sure how far stop hunting is. eg 20-30pips on a good s&r line on eur/usd daily/4hr
Im aiming for those quick jumps in price that happen in 10minutes, if i can get the pips thats mad; if not i just dont want to lose money.
20pips/day would be awesome mate, i could get my ferrari in no time

tale of a broker

went long on audusd at 895 and had moved my stop to b/e over night when price touched 9046. when i woke up,i had been stopped out. apparently on oanda the price reached 895, and guess where the price is now!

sigh.

Im backtesting a "modified" method based on Jacko/Dans method on the lower TF´s. Just to see HOW it would work and still basing the trades of the 4h - dailies timeframes as a guide. So far so good.

But like all methods, it has advantages and disadvantages. Lets see how it goes.

But my main method is definitely the one we are using on the 4h/d1. No doubt about that

Please remember there are two elements of this trading method that are vital. The first is that we are following a simple trading method - overcomplicating matters will make things harder for you in the long run. The second is the most important point to remember - we are following a long term trend based system. The reason that we are following the longer term trend is that it is easier to trade - it lasts longer than the trend seen on lower time frames.

So, although I do believe lower time frames can be traded I would caution against it. Stick with the higher time frames and really focus your trading - I can almost guarantee your success!!

Thanks for your consideration Appreciated.

Im focusing on the method outlined here by yourself as my main strategy/bread n´butter.

But in the meantime looking at it in lower TF´s aswell, based on the longer dailies trend, if that makes sense.

The only thing changed is the sl size and margin criteria for entry...

Anyways, I dont want to distract people from the method at hand, which is solid solid. So i´ll shut up hehe.

Hi,

I will post some charts/live trades when I can ( got a problem with my PC and can't copy charts atm.)

The main differance would be that I don't use a fixed stop, I look at the previous high/low within the trend to get my stop. And I don't use fibs, i look for an entry as near to the trend line as possible as well as look at price action.

I can't post charts, but take a look and the 15m AUD-USD (short) and USD-CHF (long) if you can, these are the kind of patterns/setups I look for. (not today though due to the data coming out of the USA)

Hi Guys,
I came aross this trend trading forum, I have to say I like it, I only trade the trends and have a system that is quite close to this system you guys are trading, mine has some differences but all in all it is very similar. I determine a trend a little different than I have seen here and also the strength and health of the trend is also key. But with that said nice work!
