I have their number on my speed dial... FXCM/UK - and I'm not afraid to phone FXCM/UK to ask any questions about their trading platform so if you have any questions about optimizing the performance of your account, phone them and politely ask them to explain things to you that you may not understand... and I'm with the Boston Technologies platform too and have found since I've moved to FXCM/UK, my eas no longer work there (think Megadroid still works but I'm in Demo with that ea as it misbehaved this summer but it did have an upgrade recently so time will tell when I go Live again there)... and now I'm relegated to manual trading with this platform. FXCM/UK powered by BT has explained that their IT department could look at my eas and make them compatible with their platform - well I'm just not comfortable sharing my eas with my broker like that so I'll do my manual trading here...

Anyhow, I called as soon as things started to go wrong and the trade was still ongoing with my concern... 12 more minutes on HOLD trying to get an operator though...

And once I did get someone I told them it had danced into profit again and my keys would not execute anything on the MT4 Platform... and that I believed that it was a feed issue from FXCM/UK...

I also explained that I had closed the MT4 platform twice (on 2 accounts, 2 pcs, 2 different internet connections, same FXCM/UK feed not working right!)...

They offered to close the trade at that time for me and I could have accepted a -$20 loss at one point and I said I could say that now and it could dip into profit again in a minute or two and I would be committed to taking a loss here...

Miraculously, after rebooting with them on the phone suggesting this reboot, I was now able to enter new tp and sl and assumed I could execute my trades from here - So I said I would try to manually execute the closing of the trade (and I would telephone them again if I still had problems) when it took profit again - hoping it would dip back down once more for me to do this and told them I should have been closed in profit the first time (and the second time too) when it dipped down into my take profit... I actually agreed to manage the trade from this point manually... I manually closed that particular trade at 0 a couple of minutes later and thought that was that... no profit, no loss, break even...

A couple of days later, my email came from FXCM stating that they had assessed the situation and credited my 2 accounts... I was so busy with one account and I did mention the second account - guess that validated the feed issue as both computers are on different internet server connections... and proved my point that it was not my pc acting up with virus protection problems, overload of programs running possibly, etc. (oh yes, they mentioned that to me...) that can hinder your trading program - I was credited for both accounts +$40 in one and +$80 in the other one... One of my pcs is completely dedicated to trading - no games, nothing but trading platforms - the second pc does have a few demos running and msn and google accounts opened all the time too so the secondary pc might be bogged down a bit, hence 2 separate internet connections - if one fails I use the other one... I'm up here in rural farm country in Canada so we need to back things up... I also have an auxiliary backup power source just in case the power dies up here too...

I guess with me running 2 FXCM/UK accounts on 2 different pcs and 2 different internet connections further confirms the price on my MT4's and my brother-in-law (who's 12 hours away) also runs his FXCM/UK and I can phone him also on my 2nd phone line I have to see where his candlesticks are dancing too or if they are dancing at all...

So Speed Dial helps and does make it easier to get a hold of them... the more able you'll be to call before any damage is done. The longer you wait, the weaker your claim will be.

And if something has gone wrong with a lot of other clients of theirs, you'll be getting put on Hold too, this happened to me for 12 minutes of anxiety trading this time (other times I am able to get right through tho)... while the damn thing danced into and out of my profit zone...

And each case is assessed for each client apparently, they take a look at the circumstances involved and they make their decision to credit your account or let the trade sit as it landed... possibly at loss for you... the support person has never told me their decision on the phone, I have to wait a couple of days apparently while they have a pow-wow to decide what to do with my claim...

Good luck with this folks... it worked this time for me... and I have had this happen to me with FXCM/US a couple of times in the Spring this year and a couple of times with FXCM/UK this summer... guess I am able to explain and validate my claim sufficiently to warrant my account being credited for me when these quirky things happen with the feed...

I don't get angry with them when I phone either, I politely explain that I think it's the feed from their platform, which currency pair I'm trading with on the chart, specifically which candlesticks I'm working with and what I've done so far... rebooting the platform... I also tell them what my computer system setup is (just back from the computer repair shop, cleaned up and ready to trade - we do this once a year - only trading programs on one of the pcs...) and what my issue is... make sure you know what your account number is as well as the ip login I think it was... I had to look up when I phoned in... that's 2 numbers I had to use to identify myself... my office has post it notes all over the pcs...

As soon as my MT4 acts up with me unable to execute a close of the order or my being unable to modify the order either, I immediately close down my MT4 platform and reopen it again and this usually clears the problem of the screen freezing - learned this tip from one of my phone calls to FXCM... so they helped out one time there in helping me optimize my MT4 platform...

Hope this helps some of you...

Colleen

It's users like the OP which is causing the NFA to come down on us all like we're school children.

Look - if you're going to put money into forex make sure you know what you're doing, otherwise you're going to ruin it for everyone else.

Hello Folks!

Something else I've been having trouble with lately is executing trades when the market is moving so quickly and getting the "Dreaded" Offquote...

After shutting down my platform completely and opening it up again, I still find I'm getting "Offquotes"... now this can be very upsetting as it simply won't let you play forex...

After a phone call to FXCM/UK with my phone number and all my account information and explaining to this broker about my dilemma, they suggested I set my Enable Maximum Deviation to 2 or 3, well I'm just going to set it to 1 I think and this apparently allows the price to have slippage of 1 pip either in favour or not in favour of the price you're seeking but it does get you into the trade... same as if you try to exit the trade manually so be careful with how high you want to set this...

So I'm trading ForexGator these days quite happily and do need to use this Maximum Deviation on the Order Chart and my Maximum Deviation will be 1.

Hope this helps someone else out if you're having troubles with your orders...

Colleen

So i recently opened an order using their software. I was unfortunatley wrong about what was going to happen so after 8 pip loss i decide to get out. But thier software wont let me close the ticket.. i have yet to get a response from them and my position just was margin called (im not too worried, its just a $150 test account) looks like i wont be using these guys.. and i plan on doing a chargeback to get my funds back...

Could I ask how many lots did you opened with $150 in your accunt to get margin call at 8 pips?
Personally I think would be better to give this $150 to..... a church.. and pray for better trading results in your real account. Good luck.

I'm having the same issue with all of my demo accounts that use the Boston Bridge to FXCM and DBFX. It was working fine for months but lately my EA tries to close my open trades and 40% of them just won't close. It gives me off-quote errors and they won't close. I can call in and have them closed but if this happens in the middle of the night, it doesn't help very much. Sometimes orders won't open either. Boston says it's because they don't have the time or resources to put towards monitoring demo accounts but if this happened on a live account they would catch it and close it - but for what change in profit? It could take them minutes to catch these issues and by then it could be bad news.

Does anyone trade LIVE with MT4 FXCM (UK) or DBFX and can you tell me if you have these types of issues with a live account?

You have Tradestation on your computer. Also Mt4. What other programmes ? No games ? Appears you have overloaded your pc. Problem most probably is at your end.
I am trading for 2 years - never had this problem. I would say, FXCM is tops in execution.
Have you thought of getting a 2nd computer to run the MT4 ? Might save your trading !

Sorry, not go to thread pointed out by you. Rather I depend on my own ongoing experience.

If you had just told me who is better at trade-execution, it would have been a better response - I could have followed you with another A/C !

Sometimes there could be glitches - there was one a couple of days ago when the trading was heavy -could not trade for 10-15 mins and yes, the price had moved 10 pips during this period. But online trading in FX can't be expected to be Instantaneous - no trading is. Remember how long it used to take to fill a trade on Phone and then you had to contend with the quote of the market-maker.

So far so good. Do me a favour, just name the better executing brokers. Thanks.

Vilas.

I am sure it is a technical glitch on either FXCM's side or yours, this broker is far too reputable to be playing silly games...for those that are thinking that.

FXCM has always stop hunted etc. Seems to me that its a tech problem though.

My above accusation is from an episode i had with them 3 yrs ago and I refuse to go back or even raise discussion about the issue again.

Platform freezing is part of the mt4manager package. So i wouldn't be surprise if one of their backoffice settings has changed for this problem to occur.
