If there is no buyers and no sellers at all and I buy... what happen?

Your broker takes the other side of the trade and you will always get filled immediately. Once your account grows to several million dollars and you start trading directly with banks, then you might have to worry about matching trades but for now, your broker is more than anxious to support any trade you wish to transact.

Speed of light in a vacuum?

You can't drive a car at C since it can't be accelerated to it. If you managed to do that, the entire universe would undergo instant heat death as every drop of energy is sucked out to facilitate it.

If you magically found a way to do it, or just accelerated really really close to the speed of light, the lights on your car would be squished to a very high frequency cosmic radiation. Such intense radiation would rip your car apart, killing you very very quickly.

Speed of light in some other medium, well, that's different.

Nothing happens. Provided you are at real interbank, you post a request to buy a certain amount of some currency but... nobody sells it. Just like in the regular store you will have to wait for the supply.

not really, you would just utilize your superposition, no need for energy as the acceleration would be infinite

Remember, at one point the brightest scientists of the day thought a car, if it could go 55 mph, would be instant death for the driver and all in the car.

Of course, this could have been a reference to my mother-in-law's driving.

Hahaha... if only. Don't forget the exclusion principle .

I wonder if you managed to entangle every bit of yourself if you'd survive the process, or whether what came out would be more blob than human. The problem with superpositioning is that the state of each particle is effectively lost in the process. You would have to transmit that information externally, limiting your journey to C at the fastest.

Altho that's less "traveling faster than C" and more "being teleported."

Really? I doubt that was believed for more than a few weeks, once the highway system came out cars could regularly go 55mph. There were plenty of test projects in the intervening 40 years, along with a lot of experience via airplane due to 2 world wars. Either way, the reasoning would have to be how many Gs the human body could withstand, which is very different.

The problem with C is that according to relativity it takes a geometric increase in force to further accelerate an object. The past force actually converts to energy, which further adds to the mass.

The reason light travels at this speed in a vacuum is that there's nothing to slow it down. Light has no self-mass, so it takes nothing to accelerate it. Thus, by definition, photons would go faster if they could. The reason they don't is because they can't. If a mass-less partical can't accelerate past C, how would a particle that has mass do it under normal circumstances?

I'm sure at some point we'll figure out a way to make it happen. Probably in a way that's completely unknown to us now, using some new massive source of energy. I mean in theory if you could collapse matter into a singularity you could create a wormhole, and maybe figure out a way to transmit matter thru it (no easy task). But that's way more power than we have now. That takes an energy level on par with what our sun will generate during it's entire life-time.

As for trading... if you have no buyers or no sellers to take a counter position then no trades take place. Price doesn't actually go up until a trade is recorded at a price. The trader would have to change their price to attract a counter party. Once a trade takes place, a "tick" would record the new price. That's why price goes up or down.

What I meant was and what I tought was that when there is no buyers and no seller there is an equilibrium in price so if I would buy a a market with perfect equilibrium the market would go up but wath I understood was that if there is no buyer and noseller there is no market ... right!!! So now my question is if there is an equilibrium beetween buyers and sellers and I buy would the price go up?

One time, I made a stock trade in a moderately slow stock and I was sure a marketmaker took the other side of my shares purchase and rose the price. Other times, I've done so and the price never budged. The room for such adjusting is probably the same for bucketshops.
Thus, seeing as one deals with bucketshops in forex and marketmakers in stocks, I doubt it. In a sense, they act like traders when they take your unmatched position for you.
